Missouri Underclass Games: 2020 Pitchers

Prep Baseball Report - Missouri held the Missouri Underclass Games at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg on June 12. Over seventy players attended in the 2020-2021 class.
Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard. Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos. Today will take a closer look at the 2020 pitchers from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.
The 2021 pitchers included two left-handed pitchers and twenty right handed pitchers. Eight pitchers had a max fastball velo at 84 mph.
Here is a break down of the 2020 pitchers from the Missouri Underclass Games.
2020 Pitchers
Joshua Alexander 1B / RHP / Eureka, MO / 2020Alexander is a strong-bodied 6-foot-2 187-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Alexander repeats his delivery, high percentage of strikes with three pitches, stride is slightly open, high three quarters release, fastball at 69-71 mph, some with arm side run, 11-to-5 curveball, gradual break, 60-63 mph, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, 66-67 mph. |
Kyle Brown RHP / 3B / Hickman , MO / 2020Brown is a 5-foot-9 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Brown is a strike thrower with a four pitch mix, short over the top arm slot, smooth delivery, works in line down the mound, drop and drive type delivery, fastball at 79-81 mph, works on a downhill plane to both sides of the plate, heavy fastball, showed an 11-to-5 curveball and 10-to-4 slider, curveball has late break at 68-70 mph, slider at 70-72 mph, has feel for both with late and sharp movement, has command of a change up at 72-73 mph, strong build with pitch ability and command. |
Daniel Burns RHP / OF / O'Fallon, IL / 2020Burns is a 6-foot-1 155-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2020 class. Burns has a high leg kick with smooth acceleration to in line landing, over the top arm slot, lean frame with projection in arm action and build, fastball at 77-80 mph, breaking ball had gradual action with 11-to-5 shape, 64-65 mph. |
Lucas Burress RHP / OF / Plaza Heights Christian, MO / 2020Burress is a 6-foot 195-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Burress works on a downhill plane from a high three quarters arm slot, loose arm action, short take away, hides the ball well until release, works bottom of the zone with all pitches, fastball at 75-79 mph, late running action, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, sharp at times, throws a knuckle-change up with slight late sink, 64-67 mph, near fastball arm speed. |
Sammy Cooper RHP / OF / Lees Summit West , MO / 2020Cooper, a Notre Dame commit, is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Cooper has a strong and athletic build, compact and repeatable delivery, over the top arm slot, quick and loose arm speed, lands in line and in a fielding position, fastball works downhill 84-87 mph, bottom of the zone, sharp breaking 11-to-5 curveball with swing and miss potential, 70-71 mph, commands both pitches to both sides of the plate. |
Jacob Davis SS / RHP / Windsor, MO / 2017Davis is a 6-foot-6 210-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Davis comes from a high three quarters arm slot, throw with regular effort, quick take away, adds deception working slightly across body, throws three pitches for strikes, fastball at 75-77mph, has a sweeping 2-to-8 curveball at 67-71 mph, throws change up at 63-64 mph, slight sink, throws with near fastball arm speed. |

Brayden Eftink C / RHP / Notre Dame, MO / 2020Eftink is a strong-bodied 6-foot 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Eftink touched 84 mph with his fastball, and worked mostly 81-83 mph, over the top release, body stays under control through the delivery, works downhill, breaking ball at 65-70 mph, 11-to-5 shape, occasionally sharp, change up has slight sink, 61-62 mph, throws with fastball tempo and arm speed. |
