Amir Cartagena: 1B/RHP, (2027) Greater New Bedford Voc Tech, MA. 6-foot-1, 210-pound mature athletic build. Projectable at the plate, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 92 mph. (66.0 mph bat speed average). (19.4 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced wide stance with a controlled load, then used a small stride. Had an uphill loose swing plane, developing bat speed and good extension on his finish. Found lots of barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap aggressive approach. Capable while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 73 mph; had developing soft hands, developing consistent footwork, and a natural exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were developing. Had consistent accuracy to the base and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 8.15. Capable on the mound, showing developing arm speed he had a consistent arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Up-tempo type pitcher who uses some effort. Has on- line shouldesr with a consistent balance point. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 73-74 mph; had running action and control arm side around the zone. (Max spin 1949; Avg 1807). His curveball (58-59) had sweeping action and glove side control. (Max spin 1412; Avg 1358).
