Kamden Welch (2026, Oak Ridge) In a big time game for the Cats, the sophomore southpaw answered the call and was phenomenal. Welch would go the distance, going 7 innings giving up 5 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk, and striking out 9. He would cruise in the low 80s with his fast ball, occasionally running it up to 82/83 and has several 84s on the day. His bread and butter on the day was a backdoor breaking ball to right handed hitters that he seemed to throw on command. He has a very easy pitching motion with easy velocity, you can expect much more from the 6 foot, 210 pound frame in the near future. Welch would also do it at the plate going 2-4 with 4 RBIs in a big offensive day for his squad. He has swung a great bat throughout the season in the middle of the Oak Ridge order and should only get better and increase his power.

Kamden Welch (‘26, Oak Ridge) The sophomore did it all for the Wildcats on Monday in a district game against Central. The lefty would get the ball to start for Oak Ridge and run with it, going 6 innings, would allow 2 earned runs (4 total) and struck out 6. Control was an issue at times as he had 5 walks. Welch who is 6’ and 210 lbs was up to 84 with more in the tank as he further grows into his body. He would feature a big breaking ball that gave lefty's fits and back footed righties. At the plate he was the walk off hero in the 7th innings, driving in the winning run to deep left field that would have cleared the bases in any other situation. There is a lot to like about the sophomore who has already been a contributor on varsity for his entire HS career.
