Commitment Tracker

With the fall season coming to an end, players and schools are starting to look forward to next fall. We take a look here at some of the most recent commitments in Alberta, highlighting the 2019 class including three quality arms and two outfielders.

There are still a ton quality players left on the board here in Alberta for college coaches to look at, we will be looking at some of the top uncommitted 2019 and 2020 prospects later this week.

Recent COMMITMENTS

Ricardo Sanchez SS / 2B / Okotoks Dawgs Academy, AB / 2020

Report: Sanchez, an infielder for the Okotoks Dawgs and the 2nd ranked player in the 2020 class, recently committed to Crowder College. An undersized 5-foot-9, 160-pound shortstop, Sanchez is an exciting player who on the big stage has made his mark over the past couple of seasons. Sanchez features a contact-oriented approach. He displays bat-to-ball ability with hands that work short and quick. He has shown the ability to cover pitchers all around the strike zone and catch up to a fastball. In the infield, his hands work cleanly, he displays a clean transfer and is an accurate thrower. Should get an opportunity to stay at short but can also move to second in a pinch. He has the chance to be a solid two-way contributor in college.

Alejandro Cazorla SS / RHP / Okotoks Dawgs Academy, AB / 2020

Report: Cazorla, a sturdy 6-foot, 200-pound outfielder is headed to Bossier Parish CC for 2020. A right-handed hitter, there’s bat speed and strength with loud sweet spot contact. He’s compact and best when he simplifies his approach and looks to use the middle of the field. The ball jumps off his bat, and power will be a component of his game at the next level. He profiles as a right-fielder. His arm will play out there, it’s a strong arm with carry through the bag. There’s upside with Cazorla, and it’s easy to envision him coming into his own at the next level.

Jackson Clemett OF / LHP / Vauxhall Academy of Baseball, AB / 2021

Report: Clemett, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound outfielder/first baseman, is a recent commit to Utah. Clemett jumped onto the scene at the Futures Games and the Canada Cup, where he did it on both sides. At the plate, it’s a smooth left-handed swing with a flat path and good length through the hitting zone. He gets off his backside well and generates some pull-side power, and there’s more in the tank. He has the chance to hit and with pop at the next level. A 7.10 runner, he moves decently in the outfield, takes good routes towards the ball. He displayed clean actions at first base as well; he receives the ball properly with soft hands and sound footwork.

Dryden Howse SS / C / Okotoks Dawgs Academy, AB / 2020

Report: Howse, is headed to Neosho, Missouri, as he recently committed to Crowder College. A left-handed hitter, it’s a strong and compact swing, with a slightly upward path that generates pull-side power. He’s got a chance to hit at the next level, currently his hit tool is ahead. He has bounced around the field over the past year, and can man multiple infield spots. He also sits 83-86 mph, topping out at 87 mph on the bump with ability to throw strikes and spin the baseball.
