Future/Junior Future Games Trials Scout Blog: Outfielders

Twenty-nine outfielders were present for the pro style workout on June 16 in Birmingham and the talent did not disappoint. There were a handful of outfielders that showed big time arm strength and several turned in impressive 60 yard dash times. The athletic group also showed the ability to handle the bat well on the offensive side. Let's take a look at those outfielders. 

Tyler Morrison: OF/RHP, (2022) Jasper, AL. 6-foot-3, 170-pound athletic frame. At the plate, Morrison's best exit velocity was 88 mph. Setup was comprised of balanced stance and a controlled load. Bat speed is quick and shows simple swing plane. In his round he found lots of barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Athletic in the outfield, he showed a plus arm and had life on his throws with a position velocity of 93 mph. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a very quick arm action and a ¾ slot. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.16. On the mound, sat with his fastball at 84-85 mph with a max of 85 mph. Changeup (70-71 mph).

Evan Pope: OF/RHP, (2022) Auburn, AL. 5-foot-10, 164-pound athletic frame. Clocked a 60 time of 7.54 at the event. Started in an athletic stance with a smooth load, then used a controlled stride to initiate his swing. Bat speed was explosive, used upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. He barreled up multiple balls. Gap to gap approach. the right-handed hitter's 91 mph exit velocity showed his ability to drive the ball with power. Above average in the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 87 mph. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a loose arm action with an-over-the-top slot. On the mound, threw his fastball 83-84 mph and topped out at 85 mph. Curveball (70-71 mph), changeup (71-72 mph).

Owen Beaverstock: OF/2B, (2022) St Paul's Episcopal, AL. 5-foot-10, 175-pound mature frame. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.72. During setup, had a smooth load then a small leg kick. Bat speed is electric, displays flat swing plane and good extension on his finish. He found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Beaverstock's 92 mph exit velocity showed his ability to drive the ball with power. Athletic from the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 87 mph. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used an-over-the-top slot and a long arm action. 

Eli Jackson: LHP/OF, (2022) Hamilton, AL. 5-foot-10, 161-pound lean frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 79 mph. Started in an athletic stance with a small load. Has simple swing plane, average bat speed and level finish. He found some barrels through his round. Pull side approach. Above average in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 86 mph. Had an-over-the-top slot and a long arm action with consistent accuracy to the bag. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.84. On the mound, shows quick arm speed. Feel type pitcher and uses easy effort. Lands soft with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 77-78 mph and topped out at 79 mph. Curveball (65-66 mph), changeup (69-70 mph).

Isaac Warrick: LHP/OF, (2022) Alabama Christian, AL. 5-foot-11, 145-pound lean frame. At the plate, Warrick had an exit velocity of 81 mph. Began in a balanced stance with a smooth load, then used a controlled stride to start his swing. In his round he found lots of barrels with some loud contact. Athletic in the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 85 mph. Showed consistent accuracy to the bases. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.5. Projectable on the mound, exhibits quick arm speed. Threw his fastball 80-81 mph with a max of 81 mph. Curveball (62-63 mph), changeup (70-72 mph).

Hess Fridley III: OF/RHP, (2022) Hoover, AL. 5-foot-9, 150-pound lean frame. During batting practice, Fridley iii clocked an exit velocity of 80 mph. Setup includes balanced stance and a big load. Bat speed is raw and displays upward swing plane. He Barreled up multiple balls throughout his round. Athletic in the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 84 mph. Showed consistent accuracy to the bag with a consistent arm action. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.3. On the mound, showed quick arm speed with a short arm action. Threw his fastball 76-77 mph with a max of 78 mph. Curveball (58-59 mph).

Grant Rakers: OF, (2022) Oak Mountain, AL. 5-foot-10, 160-pound athletic frame. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.43. Began in an athletic stance with a controlled compact load, then used a controlled stride just before his swing. Had efficient bat speed and short simple swing plane. Created some loud contact during his round. Up the middle approach. From the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 82 mph. Used a long arm action and an-over-the-top slot while showing consistent accuracy to the plate. 

Maddox Macrory: RHP/OF, (2022) Oak Mountain, AL. 6-foot-1, 150-pound lean frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 83 mph. Had an athletic stance. Bat speed was efficient, and used simple swing plane. During his round he produced some loud contact and found lots of barrels. Line drive approach. Recorded an outfield position velocity of 81 mph. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.65. On the mound, produced a fastball that came in at 80-81 mph and topped out at 82 mph. Curveball (64-65 mph), changeup (70-71 mph).

Alex Blackburn: OF/LHP, (2022) Baker, AL. 5-foot-10, 165-pound mature frame. In the box, Blackburn recorded an exit velocity of 82 mph. Started in a balanced stance and had a controlled stride. Bat speed is explosive, uses rotational swing plane and good extension on his finish. He found multiple barrels during his round. Pull side approach. Fluid in the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 81 mph. Showed an-over-the-top slot and a long arm action with consistent accuracy to the base. Recorded a time of 7.19 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, has a ¾ arm angle and a very quick arm action. Has an athletic finish. Changeup (67-68 mph).Threw his fastball 77-78 mph and topped out at 79 mph; showed running action and glove side command. Throws his sharp curveball (63-64) with very consistent command. 

Slade Haney: OF/RHP, (2022) Donoho, AL. 6-foot, 170-pound physical frame. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter displayed an exit velocity of 89 mph, showing his strength and power ability. Began in a balanced stance with a compact load, then used a controlled stride to start his swing. Had simple swing plane, and his bat speed was efficient. Produced tons of loud contact and found lots of barrels. Line drive approach. Above average in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 81 mph. Showed consistent accuracy to the bases. Clocked a 60 time of 7.81 at the event. On the mound, showed some effort in his delivery. Threw his fastball 78-79 mph with a max of 79 mph. Curveball (64-65 mph), changeup (65-66 mph).

Zach Johnson: OF/RHP, (2022) Moody, AL. 6-foot-3, 165-pound lean frame. At the plate, Johnson showed his power in the box with a strong exit velocity of 90 mph. Began in a balanced stance with a controlled load, then used a leg kick to start his swing. Bat speed is efficient, has uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. Through the round he found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. In the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 81 mph. Showed consistent accuracy to the bases. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.1. On the mound, used a quick arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Used easy effort in his delivery. Threw his fastball 74-75 mph with a max of 76 mph. Curveball (66-67 mph), changeup (68-69 mph).

Brodie Holcomb: OF/C, (2022) Thompson, AL. 6-foot, 165-pound solid frame. In the box, the left-handed hitters best exit velocity was 88 mph. Begins in an athletic stance with a controlled load, then uses a small leg kick to initiate his swing. Bat speed was above average, and had simple swing plane. He barreled up lots of balls with loud contact. Line drive approach. Athletic in the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 81 mph. Had a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the base. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.88. 

J. Wyatt Tharpe: OF/SS, (2023) Russell County, AL. 5-foot-11, 145-pound projectable frame. During batting practice, Tharpe had a max exit velocity of 80 mph. Starts in an athletic stance with a controlled stride. He found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. From the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 79 mph. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.81. On the mound, sat with his fastball at 76-77 mph with a max of 77 mph. Curveball (64-66 mph).

Jackson Lugo: LHP/OF, (2022) Baker, AL. 5-foot-11, 174-pound solid frame. In the box, the left-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 81 mph. Started in a quiet balanced stance. Has above average bat speed and simple swing plane. Barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Base hit approach. Above average in the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 78 mph. Showed consistent accuracy to the bases. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.88. On the mound, showed some effort in his delivery. Threw his fastball 75-77 mph and topped out at 77 mph. Curveball (65-66 mph).

Zac Carlisle: OF/RHP, (2023) Vincent, AL. 5-foot-10, 145-pound lean frame. In the box, Carlisle clocked an exit velocity of 79 mph. Starts in a quiet crouched stance then uses a controlled stride. Flat swing plane. Pull side approach. Smooth from the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 77 mph. Showed consistent accuracy. Recorded a 60 time of 7.53 at the event. 

Aidan Doyle: OF/1B, (2023) Bob Jones, AL. 5-foot-11, 185-pound solid frame. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 84 mph. Bat speed is above average and shows simple swing plane. He barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Projectable from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 77 mph. From a high ¾ slot, showed decent accuracy to the base with a quick arm action. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.84. 

Daniel Stringfellow: RHP/OF, (2025) Bibb County, AL. 5-foot-6, 160-pound mature frame. During batting practice, Stringfellows best exit velocity was 76 mph. Started in a balanced stance with a controlled load, then used a controlled stride just before his swing. Had upward swing plane, and his bat speed was average. He Barreled up lots of balls during the round. Opposite field approach. Athletic from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 76 mph. Had consistent accuracy to the bag and a long arm action. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.96. On the mound, showed easy effort in his delivery. an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 70-72 mph with a max of 74 mph. Curveball (65-66 mph).

Patch Lyman: OF/LHP, (2022) Mountain Brook, AL. 6-foot-2, 165-pound projectable frame. In the box, Lyman had a max exit velocity of 87 mph. Setup includes wide stance and a controlled stride. Bat speed was quick, and had uphill swing plane. He found lots of barrels with loud contact. Pull side approach. From the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 76 mph. Showed consistent accuracy to the bases. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.98. On the mound, showed a ¾ angle. Sat with his fastball at 71-72 mph with a max of 73 mph. Curveball (60-61 mph), changeup (67-68 mph).

Hunter Brooks: OF/1B, (2022) Cullman, AL. 5-foot-10, 170-pound mature frame. During batting practice, the left-handed hitters best exit velocity was 88 mph. Setup consisted of a controlled load and athletic stance. Bat speed was explosive, and showed uphill swing plane. Found lots of barrels in his rounds. Pull side approach. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 72 mph. From the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 76 mph. Had an-over-the-top slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.72. 

Carter Colvin: OF/3B, (2022) Baker, AL. 5-foot-7, 160-pound projectable frame. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.29. Has a compact load then uses a controlled stride. Bat speed was above average, had upward swing plane and high finish. He Barreled up lots of balls with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. the right-handed hitters best exit velocity was 88 mph. In the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 76 mph. Had consistent accuracy. 

Noah Marler: OF, (2022) Northridge, AL. 5-foot-8, 158-pound projectable frame. Clocked a time of 7.5 in the 60-yard dash. Began in an open stance with a controlled load, then used a quick stride to start his swing. Good extension on his finish. Found some barrels during his rounds. Pull side approach. the left-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 81 mph. Average in the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 76 mph. Showed consistent accuracy to the bag and an-over-the-top slot. 

Aaron Johnson: OF/2B, (2023) Alexandria, AL. 5-foot-10, 135-pound athletic frame. In the box, Johnson recorded an exit velocity of 80 mph. Begins in an open stance with a tight load, then uses a toe tap to initiate his swing. Had good extension on his finish. He Barreled up some balls throughout his round. Pull side approach. While in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 67 mph. In the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 74 mph. Had a short arm action on his throws. Recorded a 60 time of 7.65 at the event. 

Seth Johnson: 2B/OF, (2023) Alexandria, AL. 5-foot-10, 135-pound proportional frame. At the plate, Johnson clocked an exit velocity of 77 mph. During setup, had a compact load and used a toe tap. Bat speed is efficient, exhibits level swing plane and good extension on his finish. He found multiple barrels through his rounds. While in the infield, made throws up to 67 mph. From the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 73 mph. Showed a short arm action and a high ¾ slot. Recorded a 60 time of 7.63 at the event. 

Jayden Gilbert: OF, (2024) Clements, AL. 5-foot-8, 150-pound proportional frame. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.52. Setup included balanced stance and a short stride. Has efficient bat speed and short swing plane. Found a few barrels in his rounds. Up the middle approach. Gilbert recorded an exit velocity of 72 mph. In the outfield, his best throw of the day was clocked at 72 mph. Showed consistent accuracy. 

Chance Griner: OF/LHP, (2022) Oxford, AL. 5-foot-9, 165-pound proportional frame. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 83 mph. Began in an active stance with a low load, then used a short stride to start his swing. Had rotational swing plane and efficient bat speed. He created some loud contact during the round. Gap to gap approach. Athletic in the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 72 mph. Using a long arm action, showed consistent accuracy to the base from an-over-the-top slot. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.92. 

William Saxton: LHP/OF, (2025) Northwest Rankin, MS. 5-foot-9, 140-pound lean frame. At the plate, the left-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 79 mph. Setup included open stance and a smooth load. Has flat swing plane and above average bat speed. Was able to create some loud contact and found some barrels.Up the middle approach. Smooth from the outfield, he showed the ability to throw at velocities up to 71 mph. Showed a consistent arm action and consistent accuracy to the bag. Recorded a time of 7.91 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, threw his fastball 70-71 mph with a max of 72 mph. Curveball (59-60 mph).

Nick Bunn: OF, (2022) Calera, AL. 5-foot-8, 135-pound slim frame. At the plate, Bunn clocked an exit velocity of 78 mph. Setup is comprised of athletic stance and a controlled stride. Short swing plane. Found some barrels with some loud contact. Base hit approach. Athletic from the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 71 mph. Had consistent accuracy. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.07. 

Ian Ezell: OF/LHP, (2022) Clements, AL. 5-foot-10, 140-pound proportional frame. In the box, Ezell had a max exit velocity of 79 mph. Had a balanced tall stance. Bat speed is explosive, displays short swing plane and good extension on his finish. Up the middle approach. From the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 71 mph. Had consistent accuracy. Recorded a 60 time of 7.8 at the event. 

Chandler Wilbanks: OF/3B, (2023) Mars Hill Bible, AL. 5-foot-10, 155-pound athletic frame. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.11. Starts in a balanced stance with a tight load, then uses a short stride to initiate his swing. Has above average bat speed and upward swing plane. Through the round he found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 83 mph. Fluid in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 71 mph. Used an-over-the-top slot and a consistent arm action.
