OXFORD, AL - The Top Prospect Games (Upperclass) was held on Tuesday, June 21st at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL. This event was an invite-only event that consisted of some of the top prospects from the 2023-2024 classes. These players went through a pro-style workout and took batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion to record hitting metrics. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated outings facing hitters during gameplay and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Tuesday. 

Today, we begin our individual scouting reports on each player present as we take a look at the outfielders from the event. 

Max Hanson, Piedmont (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: OF/2B
Body: 5-9, 150-pounds. Athletic build, some strength throughout.
Hit: RHH. Athletic, slightly open stance. Quick leg kick. Mostly level path to contact. Pull-side approach with consistent hard line drives.
Power: 91.7 max exit velocity, averaged 81.5 mph. 324’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 78 mph. Loose, high 3/4 slot, arm showed life and carry
Defense: Reads the ball well off the bat. Clean exchange.
Run: 7.09 runner in the 60.

Preston Bedford, Central (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: OF/2B
Body: 5-10, 155-pounds. Slender frame with athleticism and projection.
Hit: LHH. Simple, balanced stance, short load, no wasted movements pre-pitch. Clean barrel, repeats swing well, lags the barrel, some power to pull side.
Power: 91.4 max exit velocity, averaged 79.2 mph. 351’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 86 mph. Nice arm strength from a high 3/4 slot, ball stays on line with accuracy.
Defense: Fluid feet through the ball, really athletic and clea, nice lateral range.
Run: 6.85 runner in the 60. Athletic runner.

Grant Downey, Vestavia Hills (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: OF
Body: 5-11, 155-pounds. Athletic build with some strength in the lower-half.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, athletic setup, some rhythm, quick load trigger. Good feel for the barrel, changes planes, working to all parts of the field with line drives.
Power: 88.9 max exit velocity, averaged 77.4 mph. 300’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 80 mph. Short , loose arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Defense: Directional transfer. Quick feet. Natural actions.
Run: 7.05 runner in the 60.

Will Greenwood, Jacksonville (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 5-8, 160-pounds. Medium build, plenty of room for added strength.
Hit: RHH. Simple, slightly open stance, quick leg kick trigger. Creates some separation, uphill path through zone, pop to pull side.
Power: 90.1 max exit velocity, averaged 78.1 mph. 271’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 80 mph. Shorter arm path from an over-the-top slot.
Defense: Plays through the baseball. Directional transfer.
Run: 7.49 runner in the 60.

Hayden Greer, John Carroll Catholic (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 6-1, 168-pounds. Long and lean frame, projectable, more strength coming.
Hit: LHH. Balanced, open setup, hands close to body, quick load for tigger. Barrel works up through the zone, swing syncs up well, uses the whole field, some power potential.
Power: 87.1 max exit velocity, averaged 68.1 mph. 300’ max distance.
Arm: LH.   OF - 81 mph. Short over-the-top slot, loose arm.
Defense: Plays through the baseball very well.
Run: 7.18 runner in the 60.

Judson Collins, Hartselle (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-10, 170-pounds. Medium, well-proportioned frame.
Hit: RHH. Simple, square stance, controlled leg kick trigger. Working to pull-side, uphill plane, strength in hands, power potential.
Power: 92.7 max exit velocity, averaged 86.4 mph. 342’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 83 mph. Loose, high 3/4 slot, arm showed life and carry
Defense: Quick, active feet, sees ball into the glove, very athletic.
Run: 7.10 runner in the 60.

Will Keller, Tuscaloosa County (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: OF/C
Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Proportional, athletic frame.
Hit: LHH. Athletic, balanced stance, quick & controlled stride. Whippy barrel, gets extension out front, line drives to all fields.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 75.4 mph. 301’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 79 mph. Long arm action, over-the-top slot.
Defense: Quick first step, comes through the ball easily.
Run: 7.02 runner in the 60.

Grant Williams, Prattville (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-1, 170-pounds. Medium frame with some projection.
Hit: RHH. Square setup, quick & short stride for trigger, weight stays on back side. Level path to contact, some pop to pull-side, line drive approach.
Power: 82.7 max exit velocity, averaged 76.6 mph. 293’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 75 mph. Short over-the-top slot, quick arm with carry.
Defense: Plays through the baseball. Directional transfer.
Run: 7.57 runner in the 60.

Gage Wilson, Wilson (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: 2B/OF
Body: 5-8, 170-pounds. Medium, high-waisted frame, some physicality.
Hit: RHH. Athletic, balanced stance, controlled stride, gets down early. Changes planes, ability to hit to all fields, smooth finish.
Power: 90.2 max exit velocity, averaged 73.6 mph. 284’ max distance.
Arm: LH.   OF - 79 mph. Short over-the-top slot, loose arm.
Defense: Quick first step, feet play fast at times.
Run: 7.48 runner in the 60.

Chris Billingsley, Bibb County (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-3, 175-pounds. Athletic, long frame, projectable body with long limbs.
Hit: RHH. Wide stance, quick toe-tap trigger, shifts weight forward. Mostly upward bath, drives barrel through the zone, pull-side pop, power potential.
Power: 92.1 max exit velocity, averaged 88.2 mph. 349’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 89 mph. Long, loose arm action. The ball explodes out of the hand with carry.
Defense: Quick feet and lateral movements. Good first step.

Ethan Kick, Spanish Fort (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-2, 175-pounds. Long and projectable build.
Hit: RHH. Athletic, wide setup, quick toe-tap trigger. Repeatable swing, smooth finish, using all fields with line drives.
Power: 85.9 max exit velocity, averaged 70 mph. 297’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - Did not make throws from the OF.
Run: 7.60 runner in the 60.

Andrew Pitts, Hoover (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-10, 180-pounds. Medium frame, physicality in lower-half with proportional strength.
Hit: LHH. Athletic stance, smooth load. Lag to barrel, looseness to the swing, showed pop to all parts of the field, mostly line drives during his round.
Power: 93.5 max exit velocity, averaged 79.9 mph. 338’ max distance.
Arm: LH.   OF - 83 mph. Long arm action, high 3/4 slot.

John Robicheaux, Mountain Brook (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Top-20 prospect with elite tools across the board.
Body: 6-2, 185-pounds. Uber-athletic build, more room to fill out.
Hit: RHH. Athletic setup, simple base, quick load for trigger. Quick barrel, solid feel for the sweet spot, ability to change planes, loud contact to all parts of the field, some power potential.
Power: 96.8 max exit velocity, averaged 88.8 mph. 346’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 91 mph. Long, loose arm action, 3/4 slot with carry.
Defense: An Athletic and aggressive outfielder. Plays through the baseball.
Run: 6.68 runner in the 60. Fastest 60 at the event.

Gabriel Young, Mountain Brook (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: OF/LHP One of the top uncommitted players in the 2023 class in AL.
Body: 5-11, 192-pounds. Strong, athletic build.
Hit: LHH. Narrow, athletic setup, controlled leg kick. Tons of separation, elite bat speed with uphill path through the zone, power presence with chance for more, loud contact to pull-side with carry.
Power: 90.4 max exit velocity, averaged 85.8 mph. 343’ max distance.
Arm: LH.   OF - 88 mph. Shorter, loose arm action, 3/4 slot with nice arm strength.
Defense: Athletic actions. Quick feet. Directional transfer.
Run: 6.91 runner in the 60. Athletic runner.

Bo Bachtel, Gardendale (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/3B
Body: 6-0, 200-pounds. Strong frame.
Hit: RHH. Wide, balanced setup, short stride for load. Creates some separation, showed some power to pull-side, upward path through the zone, some bat speed.
Power: 92.9 max exit velocity, averaged 80.6 mph. 260’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 86 mph. Short, loose arm action, 3/4 slot.
Defense: Plays through the baseball. Directional transfer.

RJ Brooks, Oxford (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-1, 200-pounds. Strong, athletic frame with twitch.
Hit: RHH. Athletic, balanced setup, quick & controlled leg kick. Strong top-hand, changes planes, pop to pull-side, hard line drives during his round, twitch in hands.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 80.3 mph. 356’ max distance.
Arm: LH.   OF - 81 mph. Loose arm action, 3/4 slot, arm flashed some carry.
Defense: Really athletic and shows easy range to both sides, works through the ball very well.

Trent Wright, Mountain Brook (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: UT/OF
Body: 5-11, 205-pounds. Extremely physical frame. Tons of strength throughout.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open setup, physical base, simple stride for trigger. Some lag to barrel, strong & quick hands through zone, enormous power potential, loud contact to pull-side.
Power: 99.9 max exit velocity, averaged 92.3 mph. 377’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 80 mph. Short over-the-top slot, quick arm with carry.
Defense: Aggressive routes to the ball. Quick feet.
Run: 7.12 runner in the 60.

Ryan Cole, Spain Park (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: RF/RHP
Body: 6-0, 192-pounds. Medium, physical frame.
Hit: RHH. Relaxed, slightly open setup, back to square early, quick stride. Good separation, heavy barrel through contact, gap-to-gap approach, power potential.
Power: 94.5 max exit velocity, averaged 87.9 mph. 338’ max distance.
Arm: RH.   OF - 84 mph. Loose arm action, 3/4 slot, arm flashed carry.
Defense: Aggressive routes to the ball. Quick feet. Worked well through the ball.
