Arizona Spring Rankings Update: Class of 2025

Shea Sbranti
Arizona Scouting Director

As the Spring of 2023 is coming to a close it is time to revisit our player rankings for the 2025 class. After multiple events in January, and being able to see live game play this High School season, the Arizona staff was able to make subtle changes while adding some new additions to the list.

As always the ranking process is a fluid and ongoing process, in which players are evaluated on multiple occasions, whether it be at an event or on the playing field at a local tournament. All players on this Top-75 list are well deserving and have a bright future ahead. The players at the top of the list have separated themselves from the rest, and proven they belong where they will be heading. Most of these prospects are very tough to compare, and through the entire Top-75, the players are merely interchangeable, including some of those that have been left out.

We look forward to seeing Crossland this summer as he is one of the top draft prospects in the state for the 2025 class.

Caleb Danzeisen OF / C / Valley Christian, AZ / 2025

Coming in at #3, is University of Arizona Commit Caleb Danzeisen. Danzeisen works primarily behind the plate and in the outfield, however what really stands out is what he can do at the plate. The left handed hitter has a big time presence in the box at 6-foot-2 195 pounds and put up video game type numbers this season for Valley Christian, hitting .460 with 33 RBI’s, 8 doubles, 5 triples and 2 home runs.

Ryker Waite SS / OF / Queen Creek , AZ / 2025

In the #4 spot in the state of Arizona is middle infielder and Oregon State commit Ryker Waite. While Waite won’t wow you with size at 5-foot-9 155 pounds, he plays the game at an extremely high level with athleticism on both sides of the plate and an energy level that never runs out on the baseball field. On the season Waite hit a team high .423 at the 6A level with 10 doubles, 4 triples and 3 home runs.

Hagen Wright OF / Red Mountain, AZ / 2025

Perhaps the most physical position player prospect on the top 10 list for the 2025 class, coming in at #5 is outfielder and Arizona State commit Hagen Wright. At 6-foot-5 230 pounds Wright generates high level power from the right side that produced 9 home runs this season at Red Mountain high school. Defensively Wright shows quality actions in the outfield with an above average 90 mph arm.

Joe Forbes C / 1B / Mountain Ridge, AZ / 2025

Coming in at #6 is University of Arizona commit Joe Forbes. Forbes showed the ability to get it done on both sides of the diamond this season, hitting .333 with 23 RBIs, 7 doubles and 5 home runs. Behind the plate Forbes is a quality defender with clean glove work, mobility in his blocking and an above average arm.

Jack Lafflam RHP / Brophy College Prep, AZ / 2025

Coming in at #7 is yet another University of Arizona commit right handed pitcher Jack Lafflam. Lafflam was a standout at this past summers Future Games where he showcased a lengthy frame, loose arm and the ability to throw a 3-pitch mix for strikes with a high 80’s fastball. Lafflam is one of the more projectable arms in the state with an arm that should see some major velocity jumps in the coming seasons.

Zane Burns RHP / OF / Chandler, AZ / 2025

Uncommitted right handed pitcher Zane Burns has been a standout all season for Chandler high school, showing true pitch ability on the mound for the Wolves. The 2025 grad has a quality 3-pitch mix on the mound with a fastball sitting in the mid to high 80s with good ASR. Burns was a participant in this past springs Pre Season All-State and a member of the USA team.

Gavin Mesa OF / 3B / Chaparral , AZ / 2025

Making his way into the top 10 and coming in at #9 is uncommitted outfielder Gavin Mesa out of Chaparral high school. Mesa has made major strides this spring for the Firebirds posting a .389 avg from the left side, while being a quality defender in the outfield.
