Final AIA Power 25 Rankings

Today marks the final AIA Power 25 update at the conclusion of the AIA Playoffs. With some major upsets and new teams making statements at the end of the season, the Arizona staff has made adjustments to the AIA Power 25 Rankings. PBR Arizona has been scouting games, and gathering info from coaches as we approached this day so we could guarantee you our best effort while covering the high school season. Each week, the Power 25 rankings have been updated, along with: team notes, and Game of the day coverage. When looking at season records below, we are only posting the regular season AIA records.
AIA CHAMPIONS
6A Hamilton Huskies (16-2) - The Hamilton Huskies are your back-to-back state title champions in the 6A conference. The Huskies dominated throughout the playoffs with a perfect 5-0 record and out scored their opponents 40-7 in their playoff run. The Huskies are lead by the #1 prospect in the state shortstop Roch Cholowsky who had a blowout season batting .466 with 35 RBI’s 9 doubles, 5 triples and 11 home runs. On the mound for the Huskies leading the way in the state title game, was recent Arizona State Commit Rohan Lettow. Lettow had a team best 1.98 ERA while going 11-0 with 70.2 IP and 62Ks in his 2023 campaign.

5A Casteel Colts (16-2) - The Casteel Colts hoisted their first AIA State Title trophy under head coach Matt Denny, in their matchup against the Catalina Foothill Falcons. The Colts had a great year with young talent throughout the lineup including first baseman / utility, Arizona State commit Landon Hairston. Hairston who is the #8 prospect in the 2024 class put up video game type numbers this season with a team high .500 avg, 34 RBI’s, 14 doubles, 2 triples and 7 home runs. The top uncommitted prospect for the Colts is #1 ranked freshman Ryan Harwood. Harwood was in the DH role for the Colts throughout the season, posting a .426 Avg with 31 RBI’s. With the Colts only losing one starting positional player in Crew Price, they are the team to beat in the 2024 spring season.

4A Canyon Del Oro Dorado (11-7) - Your 4A State Title winners are the Canyon Del Oro Dorado. While the Dorado may have not met their standards throughout the regular season, they showed the true talent of the team and got hot at the right time taking down the Saguaro Sabercats in the Championship game. The Dorado are lead on the mound by right handed pitcher and CSUN commit Lucas Casey. Casey throws a dominate 2-pitch mix with a fastball sitting 88-91 and a Cutter/Slider at 79-83. On the year Casey went 11-1 with a 1.43 era and 100Ks in 83.1 IP.

3A Northwest Christian Crusaders (17-0) - With the only perfect season in the state of Arizona and your 3A State Champions the Northwest Christian Crusaders dominated through the 3A AIA Playoffs. Outscoring their opponents 42-6 throughout the playoffs. The Crusaders are lead by uncommitted 2-way prospect Gunnar Penzkover who was the winning pitcher in the state title game showcasing a quality 3-pitch mix for strikes and a fastball touching 91mph. The Crusaders will be the team to beat in the 3A conference next season as they will only be losing 1 senior from their Championship season.
