The Preseason All-State Invitational took place at Grandview High School over two weekends due to tough weather of both snow and 50+ mile an hour winds to welcome in the spring season here in Colorado.  Over the next several days we will break down individual performances at this event.  We begin our look with the outfield position.

Best of the Best

Tyler Shelley SS / RHP / Ponderosa, CO / 2019

A 5-foot-6, 145-pound left hand hitting, OF/INF/RHP. At the plate he hits from a balanced stance with a slow load on the pitch.  Good lower leg drive on the swing.  Hands come through the zone and create good whip.  Exit velocity was 84 mph.  Defensively, he can do it all.  He shows good instincts and actions in the outfield, positions himself well and throws from an over the top arm slot.  Arm was 86 mph from the outfield.  When he moves to infield he shows good athletic actions, soft hands and a lightning quick glove to hand transfer.  Throws are strong and accurate at 84 mph.  On the mound, arm action is long and live, high ¾ slot. Fastball has straight life through the zone, sat 83-84 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, flashed tight spin, 65-69 mph. Changeup sinks, near fastball arm speed, 75-77 mph.  He finished with a 67-68 mph slider with late movement away on the hitter.

 

 

 

Tayler Aguilar OF / Northridge, CO / 2019

6-foot-1, 210-pound left hand hitting OF. At the plate he hits from a balanced stance with a slow load on the pitch.  Good lower leg drive on the swing.  Hands come through the zone and create good whip.  Swing path is uphill and his swing creates a ball with good carry. Exit velocity was 98 mph.  In the field he showed good actions and projects as a corner outfielder.  He throws from an over the top arm slot and was accurate to the bag.  Arm was 85 mph from the outfield.

 

 

 

Tanner O'Tremba OF / Cherry Creek, CO / 2018

6-foot-0, 215-pound right hand hitting OF. Right-handed hitter, balanced setup, smooth load, short leg kick and maintains balance through contact. Compact, fluid, repeatable swing, creates bat speed, consistent hard contact; 100 mph exit velocity from a tee.

Collin Cushenbery OF / C / Regis Jesuit, CO / 2019

5-foot-10, 170-pound right hand hitting OF/C. At the plate he hits from a balanced stance with a slow load and long stride on the pitch.  Good lower leg drive on the swing.  Hands come through the zone uphill and create good whip.  Exit velocity was 88 MPH.   In the field he attacks the ball and stays through the ball on the transfer.  Arm is over the top and his ball has good carry.  Arm is accurate and played at 78 mph.

 

 

Tyler Dollahan OF / C / Valor Christian, CO / 2019

5-foot-9, 170-pound left hand hitting OF/C. Offensively, left-handed hitter, balanced setup, wrap load, short stride, maintains balance through contact. Good opposite field approach, long, uphill barrel path, good extension out front, 89 mph exit velocity off a tee. In the field he showed good instincts and anticipation.  He has smooth actions and a quick glove to hand transfer.  Arm is high ¾ and ball carries well to the bag.  Arm velocity was 79 mph.

 

 

 

Evan Faucher OF / 3B / Pine Creek, CO / 2019

6-foot-1, 190-pound right hand hitting OF/3B. Defensively showed above-average hands while fielding the baseball out in front with a quick release, can play well on the move and through the baseball. Long arm from a high ¾ slot, arm plays athletically and threw 76 mph from the outfield. Right-handed hitter, hits from a balanced stance, slightly crouched; short, quick stride and wraps his bat into his load and maintains good balance through contact. Long bat path that sweeps through the zone with rhythm, 84 mph exit velocity off the tee. 

 

 

 

Samuel Gaffney OF / 3B / Colorado Early College Parker/Rangeview High School, CO / 2019

A 5-foot-8, 165-pound right hand hitting OF/3B. At the plate he stands open with a long double stride to come square.  Lower half is solid through the zone creating good pull side power.  Swing is long with extension out front.  Exit velocity was 77 mph.  In the field he comes through the ball and shows good instincts, he stays square on his delivery.  Arm is accurate to the bag and from an over the top slot.   Arm velocity was 74 mph.

 

 

 

Andre Hodison OF / OF / Denver School of Science and Technology Stapletom , CO / 2019

6-foot-3, 170-pound right hand hitting OF. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, big leg kick trigger, solid balance. Short loose path, hands create bat speed, lots of movement at the plate, but generate good power. 88 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively he moves well and closes on the ball quickly.  Showed a quick glove to hand transfer and accurate arm.  Arm played at 69 mph.

 

 

 

Kian Manmano OF / RHP / Legend , CO / 2019

6-foot-0, 160-pound right hand hitting OF/RHP. At the plate he has a balanced setup, smooth load, short stride and maintains balance through contact. Compact, fluid, repeatable swing, creates bat speed, consistent hard contact; 88 mph exit velocity.  On the mound, arm action is loose, high ¾ slot. Fastball is mostly straight, slightly runs to arm side, stays around the zone, sat 78-81 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 62-63 mph. Changeup sinks with feel, showed as best secondary pitch, 69-71 mph.

 

 

 

Jack Ranson OF / SS / Valor Christian, CO / 2019

5-foot-7, 155-pound left hand hitting OF/SS.  balanced setup, smooth load, short stride and maintains balance through contact. Compact, fluid, repeatable swing, creates bat speed, consistent contact; 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, moves well left and right.  Shows smooth actions and funnels into exchange, ¾ arm slot, throws topped at 73 mph with accuracy to the bag.

 

 

 

Gabe Rogers OF / RHP / Palmer Ridge, CO / 2019

6-foot-3, 163-pound right hand hitting RHP/OF.  Hits from a wide balanced stance.  High kick kick to trigger the swing.  Swing path us uphill and long through the zone.  Hands have good whip and create an 83 mph exit velocity.  On the mound, hands start high with a slow smooth motion on delivery.  He lands in-line with the plate and drives hard on the pitch.  Arm speed stays constant.  Fastball was 76-77 mph with late run.  Curve was his best secondary pitch with tight spin and late break, it sat 61-64 mph.  Change had late sink and sat 69-71 mph.
