2021 Senior State Games: East Region Analysis

The 2021 Senior State Games took place Saturday, September 25th and Sunday, September 26th at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, FL. The event featured players from the 2022 class representing their region of North, South, East, and West Florida participating in a pro-style workout followed by 3 total games per region in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff.

The weekend was full of talent from all 4 regions, but the South finished at the top going 3-0 throughout the event. To view all the stats from the event, check out our Stats Story. Today we will continue with our Player Analysis breaking down each player's tools and projection through complete scouting reports. We will continue with the East Region. Take a look.

East Region Analysis

Schyler Arroyo C / 3B / Hagerty , FL / 2022

Bethune-Cookman Commit, 5-foot-9, 181-pound mature physical frame. Solid during batting practice, Arroyo clocked an exit velocity of 95 mph. (64.70 mph bat speed average). (19.59 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a compact load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed was explosive, used a short swing plane and high finish. During his round he produced a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. Behind the plate, he recorded a position velocity of 74 mph during throw downs; had a quick clean transfer, athletic footwork, and soft consistent hands. had quick feet and transfers on his throw downs, recording a 1.92-2.06 pop time. Athletic setup with a lot of flexibility. From a high ¾ slot, showed consistent accuracy to the bag with a quick arm action. Displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.98.

Danny Baez SS / 2B / Oviedo, FL / 2022

6-foot-1, 185-pound solid athletic build. Solid in the box, the left-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 92 mph. (61.20 mph bat speed average). (20.34 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a compact load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed is quick, exhibits an upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. He barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Smooth athletic while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 79 mph; shows smooth athletic feet, a clean natural exchange, and soft consistent hands. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Used a consistent arm action and a ¾ slot while showing decent accuracy to the bag. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.75.

Lahiem Bell C / OF / Vero Beach, FL / 2022

6-foot-1, 220-pound strong mature build. Above average during batting practice, Bell's best exit velocity was 98 mph. (67.28 mph bat speed average). (22.04 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth rhythmic load, then used a short stride. Bat speed was explosive, displayed a short upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. In the infield, his best throw was registered at 80 mph. From the outfield, he showed plus arm strength by making throws to the infield at velocities up to 91 mph. While catching, he made strong, efficient throws to second at velocities up to 80 mph; had a quick clean transfer, soft consistent hands, and smooth athletic footwork. had quick feet and transfers on his throw downs, recording a 1.93-2.02 pop time. Athletic setup with tons of flexibility. Showed consistent accuracy to the base with a quick arm action and a ¾ slot.

Emil Bravo RHP / Reborn Cristian Academy , FL / 2022

Alabama State Commit, 6-foot-1, 170-pound long athletic build. Solid projectable on the mound, used low ¾ arm angle with a long arm action while showing quick arm speed. Tall-and-fall type pitcher who uses decent effort. Tall balance point with even shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 87-89 mph with a max of 91 mph; has control around the zone and running action with heavy movement. (Max spin 2596; Avg 2375). Had a tight slider (79-82) that showed late swing and miss action and down in the zone control. (Max spin 2469; Avg 2428).

Jacob Crews RHP / OF / TNXL Academy, FL / 2022

6-foot-5, 235-pound strong athletic build. Solid on the mound, showed quick arm speed with an over-the-top arm angle and a short arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses easy effort. Showed athletic balance point and downhill shoulders. Lands square with a falling off finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 87-89 mph and topped out at 90 mph; has control around the zone and hard action with heavy movement. (Max spin 2458; Avg 2294). Has down in the zone control and late swing and miss action on his tight slider (74-77). (Max spin 2547; Avg 2374).

Edian Espinal SS / 2B / Viera, FL / 2022

5-foot-9, 195-pound strong athletic frame. Projectable at the plate, Espinal clocked an exit velocity of 97 mph. (66.73 mph bat speed average). (20.53 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth rhythmic load, then used a short quick stride. Bat speed was explosive, displayed a level swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with tons of loud contact. Line drive gap to gap approach. Above average in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 91 mph; showed smooth rhythmic feet, next level hands, and a quick clean exchange. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a short arm action and a ¾ slot. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.85.

Connor Fosnow 3B / 2B / Lake Brantley, FL / 2022

Northwest Florida State College Commit, 6-foot-2, 215-pound strong solid build. Solid projectable during batting practice, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 100 mph. (70.12 mph bat speed average). (21.66 mph hand speed average). Began in a tall athletic stance with a smooth quick load, then used a short controlled stride. Bat speed was above average, showed an upward swing plane and high finish. Through his round he found multiple barrels with tons of loud contact. Aggressive gap to gap approach. Solid in the infield, his best throw was registered at 82 mph; showed a clean natural exchange, consistent soft hands, and smooth feet. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Using a long arm action, showed consistent accuracy to the base from a high ¾ slot. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.09..

Evan Griffis OF / RHP / Lake Brantley , FL / 2022

Stetson Commit, 6-foot-3, 205-pound solid athletic frame. Solid in the box, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 98 mph. (70.64 mph bat speed average). (22.21 mph hand speed average). Begins in a tall balanced stance with a slow rhythmic load, then uses a short controlled stride. Has electric bat speed, upward swing plane and high finish. He found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Above average in the outfield, he used momentum and arm strength to record throws up to 92 mph; had a quick clean exchange, consistent hands, and smooth footwork. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Had a high ¾ slot and a long quick arm action with consistent accuracy to the bag. Solid on the mound, using a short arm action he showed quick arm speed from a high ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses some effort. Has even shoulder with an athletic balance point. Lands square with a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 85-87 mph; shows control down in the zone and hard action with heavy movement. (Max spin 2125; Avg 2033). Jalen Hairston SS / 3B / Winter Haven, FL / 2022

6-foot, 165-pound athletic build. Solid in the box, the left-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 86 mph. (59.43 mph bat speed average). (18.80 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced athletic stance with a tight load, then used a short controlled stride. Bat speed is quick, has a short swing plane and high finish. Had some loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. Solid showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 85 mph; showed consistent soft hands, a clean exchange, and smooth feet. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. From a ¾ slot, showed consistent accuracy to the base with a short arm action.

Samuel Hernandez C / 3B / Lakeland, FL / 2022

Houston Commit, 5-foot-10, 185-pound solid athletic build. Solid projectable in the box, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 91 mph. (65.27 mph bat speed average). (21.75 mph hand speed average). Started in a tall open stance with a smooth rhythmic load, then used a short leg kick. Bat speed is electric, shows an upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Pull side line drive approach. While catching, his best recorded velocity during throw downs was clocked at 76 mph; has athletic feet, a quick clean transfer, and next level consistent hands. had quick feet and transfers on his throw downs, recording a 1.88-2.04 pop time. Tons of flexibility and athletic setup. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a ¾ slot with a short quick arm action. Recorded a time of 7.12 in the 60-yard dash.

Cameron King 2B / OF / Hagerty, FL / 2022

Bethune-Cookman Commit, 5-foot-8, 165-pound strong athletic build. Solid projectable at the plate, King had an exit velocity of 94 mph. (67.70 mph bat speed average). (23.06 mph hand speed average). Starts in a tall athletic stance with a smooth tight load, then uses a short controlled stride. Has a simple loose swing plane, explosive bat speed and good extension on his finish. Simon Kohn 1B / OF / TNXL Academy, FL / 2022

6-foot-1, 200-pound strong athletic frame. Solid projectable during batting practice, the left-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 91 mph. (61.24 mph bat speed average). (19.63 mph hand speed average). Begins in a tall balanced stance with a tight arm bar load, then uses a short controlled stride. Had electric bat speed, upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Was able to create a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap line drive approach. Kendrey Maduro SS / 3B / TNXL Academy, FL / 2022

Northwest Florida State College Commit, 6-foot-1, 187-pound strong athletic build. Solid projectable in the box, Maduro had a max exit velocity of 98 mph. (63.75 mph bat speed average). Maison Martinez RHP / RHP / Park Vista, FL / 2022

Virginia Commonwealth Commit, 6-foot-2, 230-pound solid mature build. Solid on the mound, showed quick arm speed with a long arm action and a ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows easy effort. In his delivery his balance point is tall with even shoulders. Lands open with a falling off finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 85-87 mph with a max of 88 mph; had hard running action and command in the zone with heavy movement. (Max spin 2330; Avg 2087). His tight curveball (75-78) had swing and miss action and down in the zone control. (Max spin 2425; Avg 2326). Threw a sharp slider (76-79) with slurvey action and in the zone command. Luis Morales OF / OF / Reborn Christian Academy , FL / 2022

5-foot-9, 160-pound lean athletic build. Solid at the plate, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 89 mph. (60.05 mph bat speed average). (19.66 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth rhythmic load, then used a controlled long stride. Bat speed is quick, shows a short level swing plane and good extension on his finish. He found some barrels with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Smooth athletic his best position velocity in the outfield was registered at 84 mph; showed a clean natural exchange, smooth athletic feet, and consistent hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were quick. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a long arm action and a ¾ slot. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.0.

Yahir Ortiz OF / Central Pointe Christian, FL / 2022

5-foot-10, 175-pound strong athletic frame. Solid projectable during batting practice, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 99 mph. (71.44 mph bat speed average). Cadmiel Pompa OF / 2B / Reborn Christian Academy, FL / 2022

6-foot, 183-pound strong athletic frame. Solid projectable in the box, Pompa clocked an exit velocity of 99 mph. (70.10 mph bat speed average). (25.00 mph hand speed average). Began in a tall athletic stance with a smooth rhythmic load, then used a short stride. Bat speed was electric, used a short level swing plane and good extension on his finish. Showed off his speed at the event, running a swift 6.67 60-yard dash.

Stewart Puckett SS / 3B / Hagerty, FL / 2022

South Florida Commit, 5-foot-11, 187-pound solid mature build. Solid at the plate, Puckett had a max exit velocity of 96 mph. (67.74 mph bat speed average). (24.41 mph hand speed average). Ryan Slattery RHP / RHP / TNXL Academy, FL / 2022

Pittsburgh Commit, 6-foot-2, 235-pound solid mature frame. Solid projectable on the mound, had a long arm action and a ¾ arm angle with quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows decent effort. Has an athletic balance point and even shoulders. Lands open with a falling off finish. Tyler Toro RHP / 3B / Lake Howell, FL / 2022

6-foot-1, 200-pound mature athletic build. Solid on the mound, showing good arm speed he used a ¾ arm angle and a long loose arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses easy effort. Has an athletic balance point and even shoulders. Lands square with a falling off finish. Slider (73-75 mph). Produced a fastball that came in at 82-84 mph; had hard action with heavy movement. (Max spin 2320; Avg 2173). Had swing and miss action and down in the zone control on his tight curveball (69-71). (Max spin 2057; Avg 1961). Trey Wheeler LHP / Melbourne, FL / 2022

South Carolina Commit, 6-foot, 170-pound athletic frame. Solid projectable on the mound, used a ¾ arm angle with a long arm action while showing quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive up-tempo type pitcher who shows decent effort. Tall balance point with even shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 84-86 mph and topped out at 87 mph; showed command around the zone and running action with heavy movement. (Max spin 2300; Avg 2123). Throws a sharp changeup (76-78) that shows slight fading action and in the zone control. Showed in the zone command and swing and miss action on his tight slider (75-76).
