Bishop Verot takes down North Fort Myers 9-2

ImageDrove down to North Fort Myers high last night to see them take on Bishop Verot. MLB draft prospect and Clemson commit Aidan Knaak got the start for Verot. This was my first time seeing him and he was as advertised. Finished with 10Ks over 6 innings.�


Bishop Verot didn’t wait long to get on the board. Grayson Carpenter led things off with a single, followed by a Maddix Simpson walk. Then it looked as if North Fort Myers might be able to get out of the early jam with back to back outs but Fidel Alviar hit a no doubt 2-out 2 run home run to give the Vikings a 3-0 lead.�


Knaak worked back to back to back clean innings and Verot wasn't able to get anything across in the 2nd. In the 3rd Jason Bello led off the inning with an opposite field solo home run.�


Back to back singles from Carpenter and Simpson followed by a Red Knights error lead to another Verot run in the 4th. It looked as if North Fort Myers was finally going to get to Knaak in the bottom half after a Garry Kamphouse leadoff single followed by a Blake Busbee double but Knaak barreled down and got three consecutive strikeouts to end the inning.�


The Red Knights got their first run of the game in the 5th after Princeton Marino drew a leadoff walk and Rontrez Johnson doubled to deep CF.


Johnson would later score on a Thomas Eisiminger RBI single. As we headed to the 6th the score was 5-2. Verot quickly got the runs back they gave up the previous inning, Simpson once again singled in the inning and scored on a costly error with 2-outs. In what would be Knaak’s� final inning, he struck out the side on just 12 pitches. The Vikings added 2 more insurance runs in the top half of the 7th, Owen Rardin singled in the inning. The Red Knights loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning but ultimately couldn’t push anything across.�
