IMG Academy holds off St. John Neumann 7-4

ImageHeaded over to IMG Academy last night to see their National team play St. John Neumann. Tyler Kozera faced off against Jaewoo Cho. The Celtics from St. John Neumann came out swinging. Alex Kuenzle led off the game with a walk, followed by back to back to back singles from Carter White, Logan Baratta, and Mason Ceccarelli. 


As we headed to the bottom half of the first the Celtics were up 3-0. Dean Moss singled and Tayshaun Walton walked but the Ascenders couldn’t answer back. The Celtics weren’t done swinging, a leadoff triple from Nick Sakowski and a single from Daniel Mayor had them up 4-0 in the 2nd. IMG came roaring back in the bottom half. Andre Modugno, Sean Gamble, and Zion Rose walked to load the bases with 2-outs. The Ascenders then rattled off 4 consecutive 2-out singles to take the lead 5-4. The singles were from Moss, Walton, Stone Russell, and Noah Franco. 


Ryan Rushing came in relief for IMG and he was dominant from the jump. Striking out 3 in his first inning of work. Scoring would slow down over the next couple innings as both pitchers settled in. 


IMG added an insurance run in the 4th on another RBI from Walton. They added another run in the 5th after Cade Ladehoff singled and Modugno doubled. 


Rushing continued to dominate in relief. He finished with 12 strikeouts in 5 innings of relief. He worked 1-2-3 innings in the 6th and 7th inning to finish out the game for IMG.
