Quick Hitters: Team Carolina Prospect ID Mooresville - Pitchers

PBR of North Carolina hosted its Team Carolina Prospect ID on June 23rd at Moor Park in Mooresville, NC. The event is used to select players to represent Team Carolina at the Future Games, Junior Future Games, Unsigned Senior Games, Academic Games, and other select events held in the Carolina’s. The event featured players from the 2022-2026 grad classes. 

The event started with catchers going through their defensive evaluations. After the catchers the pitchers threw bullpens with cameras rolling and Trackman gathering ball flight data. Position players started their workout with a laser timed 60 then taking BP on the field with Trackman collecting ball flight information. After BP infielders and outfielders went through their defensive workout.

QUICK HITTERS- PItchers

 

Davis Cabbage (RHP, Lake Norman Charter, 2024) – Small frame in a still maturing body.  Lots of growth to come.  Polished delivery and arm action.  High ceiling as he fills out.  Strike thrower.  Fastball peaked at 79 with 1964rpm and solid ride through the zone.  Top to bottom breaking ball with some feel for landing it.  Good feel for a change-up with fade.

CJ Aubuchon (LHP, Christ School, 2026) – Long, lanky frame that oozes projection.  Lanky athlete.  Slight reach out of the glove, working to a high-3/4 slot with good arm speed.  Arm strength present.  Fastball up to 76 with arm side run.  Located to both sides of the plate.  Sweeping breaking ball with solid arm speed, spun up to 2309rpm.

Mason Botbol (LHP, New Hanover HS, 2023) – Long limbs and lanky, thin frame.  Plenty of room to grow into the 6-foot-2, stature.  Simple delivery that is repeatable.  Loads the backside as the arm plunges out of the glove.  Works with intent.  Worked down zone.  Firm, up to 83.  Advanced feel for a change-up that has deception with fade.

Evan Cecile (RHP, West Stokes HS, 2023) – Athlete on the bump.   Athletic frame at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds.  Easy strike thrower.  Long, loose arm swing to a high-3/4 slot.  Solid arm speed.  Fastball up to 84 with a max spin of 2329 rpm.  Pounded the down zone with over 13 inches of run.  Two different spin pitches with 10/4 tilt on the breaking ball, spinning up to 2423 rpm, and short, late darting action on slider up to 72.

Micah Dalton (RHP, Hibriten, 2025) – Big frame with broad shoulders.  Solid athlete.  Long arm action, plunging out of the glove, working to an over-the-top release.  Fastball up to 76 with solid ride through the zone.  Best to the glove side. 

Konor Davis (LHP, Alexander Central HS, 2023) – Average build, standing 6-foot-1.  Medium arm action works to load the scapular.  High-3/4 release with solid arm speed.  Fastball peaked at 83.  Some arm side run.  Works with intent.  Around the zone.

Connor Woodward (LHP, Hibriten HS, 2023) – Some length on a 6-foot frame.  Works with slight crossk-fire in the delivery that could impact a hitter’s comfort.  Long, loose arm swing to a high-3/4 slot.  Slight coil through balance, with the arm wrapping behind the body line as it works out of the glove.  Fastball up to 79 with solid ride and some arm side movement.  Located down.  Occasionally cut it when going glove side.  Good feel and arm speed on a change-up that has sink and fade.  Breaking ball up to 67 with a max spin of 2520 rpm.

Cole Canty (RHP, Rock Hill HS (SC), 2024) – Athletic 6-foot-3 stature.  Projectable as he matures into his frame, adding strength.  Around the zone consistently from an over-the-top slot.  Better feel for the glove side at times.  Fastball up to 79 with some arm side run.  Potential for solid 3 pitch mix with sharp, 11/5 tilt on the breaking ball, spinning up to 1895rpm, peaking at 67.

Logan Murphy (RHP, Weddington HS, 2022) – Broad shoulders and some strength present at 6-foot-1.  Stable with a medium arm action working to an over-the-top slot.  Fastball up to 83 with solid ride.  Showed feel for the glove side.  Change-up for a strike, slightly firm, with some fade.

William Price (RHP, West Forsyth HS, 2022) – High Academic.  Dual sport, also plays HS football.  Strength present with a thick lower half.  Loose hips.  High kick.  Stable over the rubber.  Long arm action, loose, to an over-the-top slot.  Works with intent and above average arm speed.  Fastball peaked at 87 with a max spin of 2468rpm.  Lacked some ride through the zone with a 12:30 spin out of the hand.  Strike thrower.  Short, late slider at 77, spinning up to 2500 rpm.  Top to bottom breaking ball spinning at 2081.  Hard, with a slight hump out of the hand.  Also flashed a change-up that would be a solid option.
