Top-10 Profiles of 2019: No. 1 Dylan Lesko

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

The most viewed profile of 2019 belongs to none other than RHP Dylan Lesko (Buford, 2022). The No. 1 ranked prospect in Georgia's Class of 2022 and No. 2 Overall. A member of Georgia's inaugural team at the 2019 PBR Future Games, Lesko was the highest ranked prospect at the event, where over 350 coaches were in attendance. When he finally got his chance to showcase his talent on the mound, all of LakePoint Sports was buzzing with excitement. And Lesko did not disappoint.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Lesko was absolutely electric against a formidable Team Florida. Lesko pitches with a clean, loose arm action and more arm speed than just about anyone in the country. He commanded a three-pitch arsenal on that evening. His fastball sat 90-92 with run and sink, but it was not his already advanced fastball that got the people going. It was his off-speed stuff, his changeup and breaking ball. The changeup drops off the table with fade and sinking action. Then there is his breaking ball, a sharp 11/5 pitch that has depth to it. Couple these pitches together and you have the top pitching prospect in the entire country. Lesko still remains on the market, and when he finally decides to commit, will make a college program extremely happy. Whether he makes it on campus or not is an entirely different story because there is no doubt the 2022 MLB Draft will be calling his name.

Scouting Report

7/31/19Is the rare combination of now stuff and projection at such a young age. Showing advanced feel for a change-up, even for a much older prospect. and future weapons in both his fastball and curveball. The word advanced can be dangled about this day and age, but the only prep to show these types of attributes at such a young age was one Dylan Bundy. Lesko is unafraid on the mound and has no problem establishing his fastball which he locates and hides well behind his technically sound front side and his on line stroke, especially for an arm that works so clean and easy.

3/02/19Currently the No. 6 prospect in the 2022 Overall Rankings. Athletic, projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, relatively easy delivery. He closed out Buford’s first game, sitting 89-90 with a strikeout in one inning. He has excellent feel for a changeup at 77-79 and flashed a sharp slider in the mid 70s. He was brought back for a more extended appearance in Buford’s second game and pitched more in the 86-88 range, but got touched up by the Providence hitters for four runs on five hits. He struck out five in 2.1 innings.
