PBR Illinois Player of the Week: 1B Joe Oswald

Drew Locascio
Illinois Scouting Director

Andrew senior first baseman Joe Oswald has been named this week’s PBR Illinois Player of the Week thanks to his outstanding performance at the plate last week for the Thunderbolts.

Oswald was the offensive catalyst for Andrew as they went 5-0 last week. The Thunderbolts, now 11-4 and No. 24 in the PBR Power 25, knocked off Bolingbrook 13-3, Marian Catholic 12-0, Bloom 15-4, Lockport 4-2, and Richards 22-17 last week.

In the five wins, the unsigned senior, went 12-for-15, good for a .800 batting average. He also hit three home runs, three doubles, knocked in 13 and scored seven runs to go along with the lofty batting average.

For his efforts, Oswald has been named the PBR Player of the Week for the week of April 9 - April 16.

Stay tuned for our Weekly Diamond Notes, this Friday, as there were a substantial number of players who narrowly missed out on the Player of the Week award.
