Andy Urban
KS/OK/MO/AR/Creekside Scouting Supervisor

The Kansas high school season is nearing quickly, and we're here to cover it. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Kansas Preseason Power 20 Rankings.

We’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Team: Seaman Vikings
2022 Record: 20-3 First round state tournament lost
Classification: 5A
Head Coach: Trent Oliva
Years at the Helm: 1

OUTLOOK

The Vikings will have handful of players that will return with varsity playing experience from last year’s team. They will look to this group to lead their newcomers that they believe will play important role this upcoming season. The Vikings will strive to win the United Kansas Conference again along with getting back to the State Tournament in hopes of competing for a State Championship.

IMPACT PLAYERS

Bryson Vawter – 2023, 1st team All State (Pitcher & DH), 1st team All League, 1st team All County(Pitcher, DH & Pitcher of the Year)

Scout Jellison – 2024, Honorable Mention All League, Honorable Mention All County

Cameron Selbach – 2023

Holden Finley – 2024

Max Huston – 2025, 2nd team All League, 2nd team All County (Infielder) Kansas State commit
PBR Notes: Huston is one of the most exciting two-way prospects in the state. Into the upper 80s on the mounds this summer, Huston shines even brighter as a position player who is just as comfortable patrolling center field as he is at short stop. Offensively, the right-handed hitter has continually shown he can handle plus stuff and has a knack for collecting hits.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Kiernan Meredith –2023

Gabe Hernandez – 2023

David Dobbs - 2025 C
