Kansas HS Power 20 Rankings

Andy Urban
KS/OK/MO/AR/CO/Creekside Scouting Supervisor

The Kansas high school baseball season kicked off on March 17th, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we published our team previews ahead of and during the begging of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official PBR Kansas Preseason Power 20 Rankings.

While much of the initial lists are weighted on previous performances, prospects, and projections, updates will be inherently tied to the production on the field. Simply put: wins and championships matter. A human element to the list will still provide important information on the nuances and intricacies that the season bestows. Whether it is a close loss in a rivalry game, a five-game in three days gauntlet, or a bout of sickness that depletes a lineup, you can count on PBR to critically examine the playing field at all times.

Following Opening Day, our scouts will be out and about covering the 2023 season and will be publishing scout notes and additional in-season content along the way, like Power 20 updates, Diamond Notes, Scout Blogs, and Player of the Week awards.

  • Blue Valley SW holds on to the top spot with two wins last week. Their top 3 in the order are all D1 commits and are swing the bat like it. Likewise, Anson Siebert is pitching like the top 2024 arm in the country and TJ Coats has made another jump on the mound.
  • Olathe South jumps 15 spots as they are getting production out of their entire order, playing clean defense all over the field, and getting dominant innings out of Gavin Blachowicz and Noah McCombs
  • Olathe East enters the rankins at No. 5 after being a team to watch last week thanks in large part to the Braylon Snethen (.429), Noah Winkelman (.400) and Carson May (.364) having huge breakout seasons on the offensive side of the ball.
  • Life Prep jumps 12 spots as they proven they can throw enough strikes to let their defense work and for their high powered offense run away with games.
  • Shawnee Mission West remains on deck, but if they continue to dominate all aspects of the game, look for them to join the list in a prominent position next week.
