June 8th Showcase - Quick Hits

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

On Tuesday, 06/08/21, top prospects from the 2022-2026 classes came together at the Live Oak High School Baseball Facility for a great day of baseball.  Prospects from the 2025 and 2026 classes were mixed in with the older guys due to a prior cancellation of our Future Prospects Showcase in early May.  Below, we take a look at some of the stand out performers from the event.  Please be sure to continue to follow us on social media, as we continue to provide post-event coverage.

2022 Class

2022 Stewart Bonnecaze (Episcopal Baton Rouge)

Physical 6’3” 185 lbs. frame with more strength to come; Bonnecaze made his mark at our Top Prospect Games last week and continued to show well on Tuesday.  Took a really good BP, driving balls to the gaps and recording a max exit velocity of 87 mph.  Also, threw 87 mph from the OF and ran his FB up to 87 mph on the mound.

2022 Joshua Wax (Catholic BR)

Wax posted the top 60 time of the day at 6.58.  Athletic and compact 5’9” 155 lbs. frame; he showed his ability to impact the game in multiple ways.  Took a solid BP round and posted a max exit velocity of 85 mph.  Also, threw 81 mph across the infield.

2022 Todd Goudeau (Zachary)

Stocky and compact 5’10” 165 lbs. frame.  Goudeau had a really solid all around day and got it started by posting a 6.90 in the 60.  Simple, compact RHH stroke.  Showed present gap to gap power during BP.

2022 Brayden Thompson (St. Thomas Aquianas)

Athletic 5’11” 160 lbs. frame. Solid all-around day from the St. Thomas Aquianas product.  Recorded a max exit velocity of 89 mph, squaring up balls to the middle of the field.  Also, posted a positional velocity of 83 mph and a 7.05 in the 60.

2023 Class

2023 Jaxon Adams (Denham Springs)

Adams had one of his personal best days on Tuesday, as he recorded multiple highs in several categories.  Posted personal bests in the 60 at 7.18, positional velocity from the crouch at 77 mph, pop times of 1.90-2.02, and max exit velocity at 90 mph.

2023 Dallis Moran (St. Amant)

Known for hopping on the mound and running his FB up to 87 mph; Moran participated in position player only drills on Tuesday due to coming off a long start on the previous weekend.  Swung the bat well in BP and recorded one of the highest positional velocities in the INF at 86 mph.

2023 Landon Arrant (Sulphur)

First basemen are usually recognized for their bat, but Arrant made his presence with his glove on Tuesday.  During the INF portion of the day, he continually picked ball after ball at first base.  Finished his day off on the mound, by showing what made him successful as a sophomore at Sulphur HS this year.  Spotted up his FB well that had late cutting action.

2023 Dillion Bird (Sulphur)

Another Sulphur Tor with a good day was Bird.  Scrappy player who did multiple things well on Tuesday.  Posted a 7.25 60, showed good hands and feet in the INF, and a positional velocity of 79 mph.  Took a really good BP, showing off some present pull side power that resulted in a max exit velocity of 93 mph.

2023 Hunter Owens (Live Oak)

Owens may be the next southpaw to make an impact at Live Oak High School.  Wiry and athletic frame with more strength to come as he matures.  Worked his FB up to 81 mph, but it was his CB and SL that spun at 2400-2475 RPM per Trackman that stood out.  Also, posted a 6.75 in the 60.

2024-2026 Classes

2025 Kyler Roberts (Franklin Academy)

Interesting prospect with a wiry and athletic 6’1” 145 lbs. frame with more in the tank.  Began his day by posting a 7.19 in the 60.  Ran his FB up to 78 mph on the mound and recorded a max exit velocity of 80 mph.

2025 Jude Weller (Live Oak)

A 2020 Junior Future Gamer; Weller had a really good day and showed why he’s one of the top up and coming prospects in the state.  Posted a 7.26 in the 60 and threw 84 mph across the infield with soft hands and athletic actions.  On the mound, he ran his FB up to 81 mph, but it was his CH that impressed, as he was able to keep the same arm speed, locating it down in the zone.

2026 Lane Mixon (University Laboratory)

Had a really good day at the plate, showing off some future power potential by recording a max exit velocity of 82 mph.  Also, showed good arm strength for his age by throwing 74 mph from the OF.

2025 Clayton Kimabll (Central BR)

Physical and imposing 6’3” 187 lbs. frame.  Kimball had an impressive round of BP that saw him record a max exit velocity of 93 mph and max distance of 360 feet.  Good all-around athlete that posted a 7.24 in the 60.  Looks to be an exciting young prospect.

2024 William Schmidt (Catholic BR)

Lean and long frame that will continue to add strength as he matures.  Schmidt was the most impressive arm of the day.  Sat 81-82 mph, topping out at 83 mph with his FB.  Repeatable, clean delivery with a long and whippy arm action.  His 69-70 mph CB was the pitch to see on Tuesday, as it spun at almost 2900 RPM per Trackman.
