PBR Louisiana Diamond Notes (Week 4)

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Our Week 4 Edition of Diamond Notes are here, as we highlight some of the top performances, from across the state in Week 4 (03/13/23-03/19/23), as well as our Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week.  To submit your player(s) for next week's edition of Diamond Notes, please email Alex Armand ([email protected]) with the player's name, class, position, and any relevant statistics from the week.  We are fired up for what's in store in Week 5 and the rest of the season!

Pitcher of the Week

Sawyer Pruitt RHP / 1B / Live Oak, LA / 2025

A lot has changed for Sawyer Pruitt since he attended the Jr. Future Games, as a 13 year-old, back in 2020.  He's grown probably half a foot and has also grown a lot on the mound this year for Live Oak.  The uncommitted right-handed hurler took the ball last Thursday night against St. Michael's, and turned in his best performance of the year, as he tossed a complete game no-hitter with only 2 BB's and 16 K's.  Pruitt's stock has been steadily rising over the last few weeks and we expect that to continue, as we move into the second half of the season.

Player of the Week

Trey Hawsey 1B / LHP / West Monroe, LA / 2024

We've referred to the duo of Hawsey and our Week 3 Player of the Week John Pearson, as the "bash brothers", so it's only fitting that Hawsey takes home the award this week.  The Rebels offense has really gotten its act together over the last couple of weeks, and Hawsey broke out in a big way in Week 4.  For the week, he went 7-14 (.500) with 4 HR and 8 RBI, bringing him season home run total up to 8, and we've only just begun district play.  The former Future Gamer and Louisiana Tech recruit has firmly cemented himself as one of the most feared hitters in the state of Louisiana.

Other Notable Performers

Cooper Martin 1B / OF / Lafayette Christian, LA / 2024

Martin had a nice offensive week for Lafayette Christian in Week 4, as he went 6-13 (.462) with a HR and 3 2B, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 8 runs.

Landon Fontenot LHP / OF / Calvary Baptist Academy , LA / 2024

The uncommitted southpaw picked up a big win against Class 5A Mandeville last week by throwing 4 shutout innings, while giving up only 1 H with 7 K’s.

Dillion Bird 3B / 1B / Sulphur, LA / 2023

The Southeastern Louisiana recruit enjoyed a big week at the plate for the Tors.  For the week, he went 8-14 (.571) with a HR, 3 2B, and a 3B, while scoring 7 runs and tallying 8 RBI’s.  Bird also swiped 3 bags as well.

James Heiken / Carnerco, LA / 2023

Heiken had a nice week for the Bears in Week 4 by going 3-7 (.429) with a HR and a 3B, while driving in 5 runs.

Luke Roger MIF / RHP / Carencro, LA / 2024

The uncommitted junior picked up a district win on the mound for the Bears against New Iberia last week.  Roger tossed 6 innings, while giving up 7 H and 4 ER with 0 BB and 11 K’s.

Aubrey Hermes 3B / SS / Calvary Baptist, LA / 2024

The WR1/OF had a nice week at the plate for Calvary Baptist in Week 4, as he went 4-15 with a 2B, while scoring 3 runs and driving in another 3 as well.

Ayden Authement / St. Charles Cathoic, LA / 2023

Authement was on fire in Week 4 for St. Charles, as he went 9-11 (.818) at the plate with a 2B, 7 R, and 2 RBI.  He reached base safely in all 12 at-bats last week.

Shane Lee OF / Destrehan, LA / 2024

The Destrehan football star has gotten off to a great start this spring for the Wildcats.  Last week, Lee went 7-14 (.500) at the plate with 2 HR and 4 2B, while scoring 8 runs and driving in 7.  He also swiped 5 bags as well.

Jackson Legg LHP / LHP / Calvary Baptist, LA / 2023

Legg continues to perform, both on the mound and at the plate, for the Cavaliers.  The LSU-E recruit went 6-13 (.462) with a HR and 3 2B, while driving in 3 runs.  On the mound, he earned the win against Class 5A Hammond by throwing a complete game giving up only 4 H and 1 ER with 6 K’s.
