With seemingly everyone's seasons starting on different dates this spring due to Covid-19, we have decided to create two separate rankings this year based on Public and Private schools. All Maryland Private schools will be considered in this year's weekly PBR Maryland Private Schools Top 10 rankings while only Public schools will be considered in our traditional PBR Maryland Public Schools Power 25. An update to these rankings will continue to be released every Monday throughout the season.

Week 3 Update: With three weeks now in the books, today we release our updated PBR Maryland Private Schools Top 10. With Georgetown Prep (IAC), Bishop McNamara (WCAC) Good Counsel (WCAC), and DeMatha Catholic (WCAC) having yet to begin their seasons, we hold their spots as is from our initial Preseason Top 10 rankings. (It's an odd year, we get it; but that's why we have also broken it up between Private and Public, with many counties opting to begin their seasons essentially while some of the private schools conferences will be completing their playoffs).

We begin at the top with Archbishop Spalding retaining their spot at No. 2 just in front of No. 3 Archbishop Curley. The Cavaliers opened the week with a nice win against Caravel Academy (DE) but then dropped three straight to close out the week. Only one of which was an MIAA contest against St. Mary's that they lost on the road in the bottom of the seventh on a walk-off home run. The Friars two-hit and shutout then No. 5 Calvert Hall last week but remain one spot behind Spalding by virtue of the Cavaliers head-to-head win back in week two. Arguably one of the hottest teams in the MIAA is Mount St. Joseph who rolled off three wins this week to improve to 7-2 on the season. They move up four spots this week from No. 9 to No. 5 with games against both teams ahead of them in the rankings (Archbishop Spalding and Archbishop Curley) on deck this week. Climbing back into our Rankings this week is Gilman at No. 7 as they defeated then No. 5 Calvert Hall in their lone game of Week 3. The major question mark surrounding the Greyhounds coming into the season was their offense but they seem as though they are starting to figure some things out at the plate scoring 17 runs in their final game against Boys' Latin in Week 2 and then seven more in their win over the Cardinals in Week 3. St. Paul's remains at No. 10 having just played one game in Week 3 defeating "B" Conference Gerstell Academy 11-3 on the road Monday. And last but certainly not least, making their first appearance in the Top 10 Rankings this season is St. Mary's coming off a huge win last Tuesday against Archbishop Spalding handing the Cavaliers their first loss of the season. That leaves Calvert Hall and John Carroll on the outside looking in for the first time this year. Still plenty of baseball to be played as the MIAA season gets closer to the mid-way point of the season this week where everyone will be close to having played each other one of the two times this season.
