With seemingly everyone's seasons starting on different dates this spring due to Covid-19, we have decided to create two separate rankings this year based on Public and Private schools. All Maryland Private schools will be considered in this year's weekly PBR Maryland Private Schools Top 10 rankings while only Public schools will be considered in our traditional PBR Maryland Public Schools Power 25. An update to these rankings will continue to be released every Monday throughout the season.

Week 5 Update: With five weeks now in the books, today we release our updated PBR Maryland Private Schools Top 10. Bishop McNamara (WCAC) Good Counsel (WCAC), and DeMatha Catholic (WCAC) having yet to begin their seasons, we hold their spots as is from our initial Preseason Top 10 rankings. (It's an odd year, we get it; but that's why we have also broken it up between Private and Public, with many counties opting to begin their seasons essentially while some of the private schools conferences will be completing their playoffs).

Just one move this week with Gilman and Mount St. Joseph flip flopping to number five and seven respectively. Winning three games in one week in the MIAA is tough regardless of who you play, and that's exactly what to Greyhounds did last week defeating McDonogh, St. Mary's, and #10 John Carroll on the road. Mount St. Joseph on the other hand split the week going one-and-one with while not a bad loss by any means 2-1 to #2 Archbishop Spalding; that coupled with a head-to-head loss to the Gilman in their first meeting of the season a few weeks back is reason for the switch heading into their re-match this Tuesday. At the top, Georgetown Prep finally opened their season with two convincing wins over Bullis and remain number one. #2 Archbishop Spalding further strengthened their position at the top with a 4-0 week with non-conference wins against Fredericksburg Christian (VA) and Caravel Academy (DE) both on the road and two mid-week conference wins over #9 Calvert Hall and previously mentioned last week's #5, Mount St. Joseph. #3 Archbishop Curley played just one game last week taking care of business against Loyola-Blakefield on Thursday. And both Calvert Hall and John Carroll remain in their same spots after splitting their "A" conference games last week.
