RK // TEAM // (LAST)

10 // BEMIDJI LUMBERJACKS (NR) ?

The Lumberjacks are late to the rankings list, but opponents keep telling us that the guys from the north are for real. They run the bases well and can hit as well as anyone. Bemidji is now 11-4 after splitting the week with wins over Osseo and Maple Grove and losses to Elk River and Princeton. They see Elk River, St. Cloud, and Brainard round out their regular season.

9 // ANOKA TORNADOES (NR) ?

The Tornadoes could be a challenging team to face in section play. The 13-5 Tornadoes enter the top ten list following a solid month of May. Anoka has gone 10-2 this month, including five shutouts.

8 // ELK RIVER ELKS (NR) ?

Another new entrant to the top ten list, the Elks are 12-5 with recent wins against bubble team Bemidji and Totino Grace. They see Bemidji, Chaska, and Grand Rapids this week to wrap up their season.

7 // CHAMPLIN PARK REBELS (NR) ?

The Rebels are another team that has gotten stronger as the season progresses. Champlin Park led the Northwest Suburban at 9-2 with wins over Rogers and Minneapolis Washburn last week. They will face Coon Rapids and Minneapolis Southwest this week.

6 // ROCHESTER MAYO SPARTANS (NR) ?

Rochester Mayo may have suffered from out-state bias and deserved to be in the rankings much earlier. Hard to argue with their 15-3 season so far. They get Northfield in a double-dip on Monday night.

5 // CHANHASSEN STORM (4) ?

The Storm split their week with losses to Osseo and New Prague while beating Benilde-St. Margaret’s and St. Louis Park. They will face a section opponent in No. 4 Minnetonka and Bloomington Jefferson.

4 // MINNETONKA SKIPPERS (10) ?

Of all the ranked teams from Week 5, Minnetonka was the only team with a winning record. The Skippers went 4-0 with wins over Waconia, Buffalo, Edina, and Chaska. They get a week’s worth of border battles with games against Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, and Hopkins.

3 // EAST RIDGE RAPTORS (2) ?

East Ridge went 1-2 with a win over Stillwater but losses to Woodbury and Park of Cottage Grove. They finish their regular season play at 13-7 and are second within the Suburban East.

2 // WAYZATA TROJANS (3) ?

Now at 12-5, Wayzata has been a scrappy team that has stayed in almost all their contests. The Trojans didn’t have a losing record last week – which only 50% of the ranked teams could say. They defeated Hopkins but dropped one to Robbinsdale Armstrong.

1 // CRETIN-DERHAM HALL RAIDERS (1) ?

Like almost everyone else, the Raiders did not have a winning record last week. They beat White Bear Lake and Irondale but lost to Woodbury and Stillwater. Nevertheless, at 15-4, Cretin remains the team to beat in the state. Check out the latest Ducks On The Pond podcast for more on the team and the program.
