2015 Outlook
Head Coach Brian Ash has led Jefferson City to 61 wins over the last three years and look to continue winning ways in 2016. Jefferson City will be battle tested, returning six starters from a year ago, along with four pitchers that had 15 or more innings in 2015. One of those pitchers is senior RHP Gerrit Shirts, a loose-armed hurler that was up to 87 mph last summer. The junior class is rich with talent, led by one of the state's top shortstops and left-handed pitchers. SS Grant Wood is a sub-seven runner with an 84 mph positional velo and has the ability to drive balls to both gaps.  LHP Jacob Weirich earned All-District honors and tossed a perfect game against cross-town rival Helias a season ago. C Kade Franks, 2B Hayden Hirsvogel, and RHP/OF Brandon Williams are other members of the 2017 class that will play a key role in the Jays success this spring.  Senior LHP/OF Kyle Irwin will provide a spark at the top of the lineup and provide another LHP in the rotation. Irwin is coming off an injury from last year and will provide needed senior leadership in the Jays clubhouse.  Jefferson City will also have young talent to keep an eye on in sophomore OF Tyler Bise.  Look for the Jays to compete for a district champions and make a push in the state tournament.
