Name:
Caleb Goetz
Class: 2017
Commitment: Iowa Western CC
School: Bellevue West
Positions: 3B
Height/Weight: 6'1,185 pounds
Throws/Bats: R/R

PBR: Why did you choose Iowa Western CC?
Goetz:
I chose Iowa Western because it felt like home to me, the culture is second to none. The process and they way they move players through the system is very fitting. I loved the coaches, and the campus.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Goetz:  Johnson County, Heartland CC, Garden City, Indian Hills, Southeast CC, DMACC.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
Goetz: Coach Shockey informed them about me early on, and they kept an eye on me for awhile. The coaches and I kept in contact throughout the fall.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
Goetz:   Absolutely. Knowing that I have a home for the next 2 years is very relieving. I'm ready and excited for this Spring and Summer to make a run for some championships.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
Goetz:  Probably just the overall culture and system Iowa Western has in place. Not many other places that have the same.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
Goetz:  First off my Parents. They've supported me every step of the way. Second off is Coach Shockey and the Bellevue West coaches. I couldn't be where I am today without them.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

Goetz:  The recruiting process was a whole new thing for me. The one thing that I had to constantly remind myself was, to be patient. Things would fall into places. But the whole process was bitter/sweet throughout the time.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
Goetz:  They expect me to come in and get bigger, faster, and stronger. Learn the system and compete.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
Goetz:  My most memorable moment would probably be winning the Metro Conference Tournament, this past spring. Planning for many more memories this year.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
Goetz:  Positionally would be Cole Stobbe. He was unreal, as everyone knows. Off the mound would defiantly be the Waldron brothers.
