Class of 2025 - Rankings Update

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

As the Fall winds down and players prep for the upcoming Spring, we have updated the Nevada Class of 2025 PBR Player Rankings. This update featured a modest amount of movement, expanding to 40 prospects who have made an early impression on the PBR Nevada Staff. The preseason schedule will play a key role in the our next update with the PBR Staff set to attend numerous games as teams prepare for the Spring along with the Preseason ID and High School Scout Days that we will be able to not only get a first hand look at the players entire game, but will also be able to utilize the PBR Tech to collect significant, objective data on each player used to identify separating components of comparable players.

The PBR Nevada Preseason Events are vital in our #RoadToTheFutureGames and is the kick off point for players who are interested in the opportunity to represent Nevada against the rest of the country at the premier event of the summer, The Future Games.

As always, the evaluation process is a fluid and ongoing process with multiple viewings in order to get the best feel for players abilities. It’s important to note that as players continue their development some show marked improvement at a much more rapid pace. That doesn’t indicate that other players got worse or went backwards, it’s just how player development works.  As the year unfolds, players make improvements and new prospects pop up on the radar expanding the PBR rankings universe.  In addition to the evaluations of players, our scouts, both those in Nevada and nationally, have also had multiple discussions with each other to review our individual lists and then make adjustments based on what we've each seen.

FIVE to Know

Nolan Eberwein OF / Bishop Gorman , NV / 2025

The 6-foot-3, 160 pound LVR / Bishop Gorman product announced his presence at the 2022 Future Games and has continued to impress throughout the Fall. The long, lean frame helps him generate easy leverage at the plate, flashing some present power to the pull side with the ability to use all fields. Eberwein will be an intriguing follow for the next few years as both a potential premium bat as well as a potential big time arm on the mound. The sophomore was up to 84 mph at the Future Games this past Summer and seems to only be scratching the surface of what is to come. Expect a breakout Spring season with a ton of attention to follow.

MACK EDWARDS 1B / Reno, NV / 2025

The 6-foot-5 two-way prospect out of Reno High has already begun to fill out his frame, currently standing at 205 pounds with room to add. Edwards size attracts immediate attention and that, paired with his present athleticism and tools at the plate make him an even more intriguing prospect. Coming out of the highly respected Reno program that seems to produce high baseball IQ prospect every year, Edwards could be a the next "big name" to come out of that program and it would not be a stretching to think he could be one of the next Nevada 2025 prospects off the board.

Ace Hansen OF / Faith Lutheran, NV / 2025

The Canes Las Vegas / Faith Lutheran product is the highest riser in the 2025 Rankings Update and he may not be done just yet. Already standing at 6-foot-3 with plenty of room to fill out his frame, Hansen has already shown standout "stuff" with his fastball up to 86 mph via Trackman that projects to continue trending in the right direction heading into his sophomore campaign where he could be a difference maker on the mound for the Crusaders.

Caden Birch SS / North Valleys, NV / 2025

The small school product out of North Valleys has continued to prove his can swing it among some of the higher end bats in the state with 100+ mph TrackMan Exit Velocities along with his 91.3 mph Average TrackMan Exit Velocity, proving he can be a big time bat with the ability to hit for average as well. His .667 Batting Average led all of 3A baseball in Nevada and was the highest overall Batting Average in the state during the 2022 Season. Keep an eye on this one as a big bat again this Spring with more power to come.

Jaxsyn Durst OF / Bishop Manogue, NV / 2025

Durst is another Northern Nevada prospect out of Bishop Manogue that has shown the actions of not only a standout bat, but a high level defender as well. Still displaying a youthful frame and build at 5-foot-8, 130 pounds, he is a player that's game will amplify in each area as he continues to mature physically over the next few years. He is expected to be a contributor in an exciting Miners lineup that we project to make a deep playoff push this upcoming Spring.
