Top Performer Report

Uncommitted '23 OF/RHP Joseph Koch (Mahopac) has a lot to like in his make up and skill set. Koch is 5-foot-11, 185lbs and very well put together with strength that translates on the field. Koch is twitchy and strong in the lower half as he is able to post a 6.81 laser timed 60 yard dash time. At the plate, Koch works a quick turn and keeps the hands tight to his body for a compact swing. A swing like this gives above average plate coverage and keeps the barrel in the zone for a good amount of time, creating a lot of contact points. With a 95 MPH peak exit velo and a 64% sweet spot rate, its easy to determine that Koch has good barrel control. Defensively, Koch shows natural actions to the baseball. He is able to field on his glove side foot, transfer, and throw all in one athletic movement toward the target. The throw is delivered from a 3/4 slot with late arm speed, most likely inducing proper carry on the throws to the target. Koch posted an 85 MPH outfield velo in March. On the bump, Koch is steady toward the target with deliberate movements. He is able to work a full arm swing and get the arm up and ready in time to throw at front foot strike. The arm strength has the potential to transfer over to the mound if some mechanics and tempo can be cleaned up. Barto throws his max fastball at 79.3 MPH as well as mixing in a CB/SL/SNK combo where the SL is the prominent pitch. The SL is more of a sweeping, "frisbee" pitch where it lacks depth but makes up for it in the late bite to his glove side.
