Nate Monastra, C, Olentangy HS, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose Xavier?

Monastra: I chose Xavier because it is a great school academically and the baseball program is top notch. When I visited I was very attracted to the compacted campus and it just felt right. Along with all of this the big east is a great conference with many cool places to travel to.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Monastra: Ohio, Wright State, Miami, Virginia Tech

PBR: Where did Xavier first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

Monastra: Coach O'Conner first saw me at a Cincinnati Flames tournament, shortly after that Coach Otte came to watch me play at the Underclass Games at Ohio State. Coach Otte called me and invited me down to campus for a visit.

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Monastra: Cincinnati Flames, as being on one of the best teams in the state we compete against the best teams regionally and always play great competition.

PBR: How was the recruiting process and was it everything that you expected?

Monastra: It was a lot of fun but once i saw Xavier i knew that was where I wanted to go, it was more stressful than I originally expected.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Monastra: My dad.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Monastra: Adam Wolfe
