Prep Baseball Report

Q amd A with Rose-Hulman Commit Jeff Ludwig (Moeller)

PBR: Why did you choose Rose-Hulman?
Ludwig: I chose Rose-Hulman due to their academic prowess. I wanted to make sure that I was going to get the education I needed, complimented by a fine baseball program.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Ludwig: I was considering Thomas More College, Xavier University, and Transylvania University.

PBR: What were your expectations about recruiting heading into the summer?
Ludwig: I was unsure as to what opportunities were heading my way, but came up lucky as I received some extensive exposure in multiple showcases and tournaments. I was confident I would get looks, I was unsure as to where from.

PBR:  Where did Rose-Hulman first see you compete?
Ludwig: They first saw me compete at the Buckeye Elite Showcase.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Ludwig: Rose-Hulman has a Junior Varsity team so I believe that they expect me to be playing a lot of time there, while also receiving some reps at the Varsity level.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help at Rose-Hulman?
Ludwig: I think that my biggest strength as a player would be my work ethic because it gives me the potential to work to be in the best position to help the team.

PBR: What was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Ludwig: My most memorable experience from this summer was traveling to Columbus and playing in the Buckeye Elite while spending time with my teammates on, and off, the field.

PBR:  Now that you are a Senior, how will your leadership role change this spring?  What are your team and individual expectations?
Ludwig: Being a senior is a big deal at Moeller because we had always played under them and they are the front lines of the program. As a team we have two main goals: to win state, and to win the GCL. At a school with Moeller's standards, we expect the best performance from our players that will hopefully take us a long way in our tournament run. Individually, I'm prepared to play wherever Coach Held may need me. I will use this time as a senior to help motivate and be a team player while getting ready to play in college.
PBR:  How does it feel to play for such a traditional program as Moeller?
Ludwig: Playing for Moeller has many benefits and a feeling of tradition is one of these. We go through the same routine day after day and we are strict in the way we go about our practices. Having played for a school with such tradition is a great privilege because it shows me what it means to be part of a something bigger than just yourself.

PBR: What were your stats last year at Moeller?
Ludwig: I had 10 at bats with 6 hits and four stolen bases. I finished the season with ten runs and 5 rbi's.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Ludwig: The toughest pitcher I have faced in Ohio was Joel Bender from Oak Hills who is currently in the Red's organization.
