Prep Baseball Report

Q and A with 2014 Huntington Commit: Chase Miller (Lakewood HS)

Chase Miller, MIF, Lakewood HS, Class of 2014

PBR: Why did you choose Huntington?

Miller: Tight knit community. The town of Huntington is really involved with activities at the college. Beautiful campus.  Baseball team is like a family.  Like the coaching staff & team.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Miller: Taylor University, Earlham University, Tusculum, Mount Union, Bowling Green, Heidelberg, Marietta, Ohio Wesleyan, Culver Stockton

PBR: Where did Huntington first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

Miller: Crossroads Showcase at Wright State

PBR: This fall you attended PBR’s Unsigned Senior Showcase.  How much did that help in you in the recruiting process?

Miller: It gave me some data to put on my recruiting site but as far as recruit contacts it didn’t really do much. The reason I say that is that most of the schools that were there had already seen me play prior to the event, seen my videos on my recruiting site or saw me play in the WWBA in Georgia.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus

Miller: To make an impact at MIF/SS right away & to take a leadership role on the team.

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Miller: I usually play on several teams but mostly with the East Coast Grays (NY) & T3 Rays (OH)

While living in Kentucky & playing travel ball I played the best kids & top programs in the country.  Since moving to Ohio I was able to play a lot of events along the east coast & the WWBA in Georgia.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Miller: My dad.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Lakewood?

Miller: 31 runs, 32 runs, 390 avg.  2nd Team All Conference

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Miller: Eric Lauer (Midview HS)
