Updated Class of 2022 Player Rankings (April)

In 2020 we have had a year unlike any other ... No Spring HS season, uncertainty all summer with tournaments and showcases and the same can still be said in the fall. But that hasn't stopped us from searching far and wide throughout the state to find the best prospects we can, to help them get to college and to help colleges find prospects that fit their culture.

Despite the tumultuous year, many names came off the board to some of the top programs around the nation, many new names came to the forefront of the recruiting scene, and many prospects improved their game.

That being said, we have had the pleasure of seeing a number of solid players this past year. Prospects are popping up left and right, making velocity jumps, improving 60-yard dash times and showing more power with the bat.

Below we will take a look at “What's New At The Top", The Risers”, "The Sleepers", and some of the top uncommitted prospects by position.

Coming soon ... We will have the Class of 2022 Rankings Positional Breakdown, which you will be able to view by clicking here.

What’s New At The Top

Gavin Jones RHP / RHP / North Royalton, OH / 2022

Report: Uncommitted RHP Gavin Jones out of North Royalton was far from an unknown as a prospect since he came onto the scene as a freshman. Jones has been a top 20 rated prospect in class since the first rendition of the 2022 rankings and was a Future Game member for Team Ohio. However, the 6-foot-3 right-hander has taken an already impressive arsenal to the next level which has moved him up into the top 5 of the class. The fastball now peaks at 93mph and don’t be surprised if that goes up a tick or two by the time he puts on a college jersey. The velocity increase was impressive but equally as impressive is the improvements to frame and secondary arsenal. Since decommitting from Ohio University Jones is hearing from Power 5 programs across the country.

Andrew Hendrickx RHP / SS / Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, OH / 2022

Report: Coming in at No. 6 right behind Jones is Kent State commit Andrew Hendrickx out of CVCA. Hendrickx was highlighted as a “sleeper” in our last rankings update, albeit he was still a top 20 prospect, but there were still obvious signs of a jump to be had. Over this past offseason we’ve seen it come to fruition. One of the better athletes on the mound the state has to offer that can now run it up to 92mph with an impressive curveball and newly designed slider that is in the low 80s spun up to 2800rpms. Sky is the limit here as he continues to add strength to frame and grow his arsenal.

Matthew Graveline C / 3B / Centerville, OH / 2022

Report: Another guy who made a jump into the top 10 is Centerville backstop and Ohio State commit Matthew Graveline. Similar to Hendrickx in that he has so many uncoachable traits physically that his stock will only continue to rise as he adds physicality. At the top of the list of traits is the arm strength behind the dish. One of the top catch/throw guys we’ve seen in some time that can run it up into the mid 80s from the crouch. The number on the radar gun stands out but how easily the ball comes out and how accurate he is also is advanced. The athleticism shows in game with his block/receive and each time we see him the bat continues to progress.

The Risers

Landon Beidelschies LHP / 1B / Canfield, OH / 2022

Report: We’ve been able to catch two starts from Army commit Landon Beidelschies and both have been lights out. Looks the part physically out there 6-foot-2, 215-pounds with a polished/easy delivery that suggests he could take the ball as a starter at the next level. Fastball will sit in the 86-89 range and he’s shown advanced command of the offering. The separator for him is the breaking ball. If you named guys with the top breaking balls in the state he’d be near or at the top of that list. Hammer of a pitch at 70-73mph with late, heavy action at 2500+rpms. The recent ascension of the southpaw lands him in the top 25 of the class.

Landyn Vidourek SS / RHP / Badin, OH / 2022

Report: Uncommitted UTL Landon Vidourek turned in a monster performance at this year’s CBC scout day and carried it over to the spring thus far to make a jump up the rankings. Vidrouek is an impressive athlete that also doubles as a QB for Badin’s football team. Simply put there isn’t much this guy can’t do on the field. A versatile defender with ball skills and 90+mph arm that can play pretty much anywhere defensively. His biggest progression may have come with the bat where the physicality he added in the offseason has translated to more batspeed/authoirty through contact. The left-handed bat now sports upper 90s exit velocity and a pure path that plays line to line. If that doesn’t do it for ya he can also jump on the mound and locate three-pitches with a fastball that has been up to 90mph. At the end of the day you’re looking at a versatile defender/bat who has a very high velocity ceiling on the mound.

Troy Sudbrook SS / RHP / Avon, OH / 2022

Report: A position guy who has steadily gone stock up is uncommitted Troy Sudbrook out of Avon HS. Physically imposing dude who stands 6-foot-3, 205-pounds and uses that physcaility to generate triple digit exit velocities from the left side. Whether it has been in a showcase setting at T3 Scout Day or when we watched it in game the bat always shows up in a loud way. He’s also a guy with a big arm and athleticism you could profile at multiple spots defensively and will show you mid to upper 8s on the mound.

Sleepers

Colin Kelly RHP / 1B / Twinsburg, OH / 2022

Report: It was only a bullpen and he wasn’t up to 100% effort just yet but the ceiling with Colin Kelly out of Twinsburg is obvious. The right-hander stands 6-foot-7 with a free and easy delivery. What stands out with the delivery is how controlled he is considering length. Filled up the zone when we saw him in the low 80s with above average secondary. It wouldn’t be hard to imagine this being a mid to upper 80s arm conservatively over the next few years as he continues to progress physically.

Davin Ronquist RHP / SS / Fairfield, OH / 2022

Report: An arm that has shoved so far this spring is Fairfield’s Davin Ronquist. An uncommitted prospect that already has 20ks through 12 innings pitched. We got a chance to catch one of his starts where he showcased impressive stuff. Not the biggest guy in the world but Ronquist has obvious armspeed that he uses to run the fastball up to 87mph so far. Can locate the pitch wherever he wants and complements the heater with a very sharp breaker and quality changeup. The combination of stuff and ability to mix make him a tough at bat for hitters on both sides of the plate.

Adam Stahler RHP / Waynesville, OH / 2022

Report: Another uncommitted, pop up arm we came across this winter we think has a chance to make a jump is Adam Stahler out of Waynesville HS. Physically, he’s 6-foot-4 at 165-pounds with endless projection left on frame. Fastball will sat in the low 80s in a bullpen setting with feel for playable secondary. Arm is loose/works and as he grows into frame movement patterns should clean up and velocity should follow. It will be interesting to see where he is over the next few years.

Blane Nestle SS / 3B / Moeller, OH / 2022

Report: Here’s a player who could be a new name to college coaches and it’s Blane Nestle, INF out of Moeller HS. One of the most productive bats in a loaded Moeller lineup this season that has seen time at multiple spots in the infield, including shortstop. The reason he may not be on some recruiting boards at the moment is simply because he moved in from the state of Washington. We’ve only got a chance to see him a few times but so far he really looks the part.

Braeden Goulet LHP / OF / Wapakoneta, OH / 2022

Report: 6-1, 175-pounds with an athletic frame. The southpaw showed well in out first time seeing in a couple of years. Three-pitch mix and confident in all three. Repeatable delivery. Sat 81-84 mph, topping at 86 with the fastball. 1/7 action with some sharpness at times on the curveball. When thrown well, works down in the zone with some cut. Good arm speed with arm-side run and sink on the 76-79 mph changeup. As a position prospect, Braeden Goulet shows well at the plate and in the field. Three-sport athlete, QB in football and shooting guard in basketball. Definite follow.
