OK Fall Underclass Games: Catcher Reports

PBR OK hosted the Fall Underclass Games at Oral Roberts University which featured 47 players from across the state with players from the 2025 class to the 2023 class.  There were multiple performers that shined throughout the day during the showcase portion and then into the following game.  Today we take a look at the nine catchers from the event with breakdowns on the body profile, hitting mechanics and power numbers, arm actions, defensive actions, and more.  You can see all event stats and details by clicking here.


Brand Wilson, Roff (OK), 2023  
Positional Profile: C/RHP  
Body: 6-3, 190-pounds. Physical and athletic build. 
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance with an athletic posture.  Hands get set just below shoulder height with a high back elbow and 45 degree bat angle.  Quick load into the lower half and utilizes a leg kick stride with good linear push into a firm front leg.   Smooth rhythm throughout the swing. Strong rotational swing with a pull side approach.  Works the ball up in the air to the pull side with strong launch.  Hands work quickly through the zone.  Gets good extension and maintains balance throughout the swing. 
Power: 91.51 max exit velocity, averaged 83.28 mph. 316’ max distance. Shows some strength at contact with the hands. 
Arm: RH. C - 76 mph.   High 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action. 
Defense: 2.01-2.15 pop times. Receives the ball with slight body movement and strong wrists.  Feet work quickly and short out of the crouch and when they get fully turned the throws have good accuracy and carry to the bag.  High posture on blocks with hips working quickly to the ground. 
Run: 7.78 runner in the 60.  
  
  

Luke Beeler, Holland Hall (OK), 2025  
Positional Profile: C/1B  
Body: 6-0, 190-pounds. Mature and physical frame with present strength. 
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance with an athletic posture.  Hands get set quietly into position with hands back deep and a vertical bat angle.  Slow loads into the lower half with strong linear push into a firm front leg.  Quiet set up with repeatable rhythm  Hands work short and direct to the ball.  Good overall bat speed and hand speed.  Level bat path with good extension.  Whippy barrel and shows the ability to drive the ball to all fields with power.   
Power: 97.99 max exit velocity, averaged 87.01 mph. 338’ max distance. Very good strength at contact with strong power potential.   
Arm: RH. C - 75 mph. INF - 79 mph.  High 3/4 arm slot with a short and quick arm action. 
Defense: 1.97-2.02 pop times. Behind the plate receives the ball with one knee in the dirt and strong wrists.  Feet work in good rhythm with quick hip turn on throws to second.  Throws had good carry and accuracy to the bag.  Shows proper blocking technique with good posture.  In the infield shows active feet and a feel for glove action.  Fields the ball out in front of the body and shows good footwork around the bag. 
Run: 7.53 runner in the 60.  
  
  

 Hunter Cantrell, Harrah (OK), 2024  
Positional Profile: C/OF  
Body: 6-0, 145-pounds. Long and lean build with room for more size and strength. 
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance with an athletic posture.  Hands get set at shoulder height with a high back elbow and a 45 degree bat angle.  Short load into the lower half with a simple stride.  Strides to the front foot. Flat bat path with hands working to the inside part of the ball.  Rotational swing with developing balance.  Line drive approach.  
Power: 85.22 max exit velocity, averaged 63.18 mph. 160’ max distance.  
Arm: RH. C - 74 mph.  OF - 72 mph. 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action. 
Defense: 2.30-2.47 pop times. Behind the plate receives the ball with a stiff glove arm extended forward.  Developing footwork out of the crouch with front foot staying open.  Shows good hip sway on blocks with good hip flexibility.  In the outfield attacks the ball with short and choppy footwork.  Fields the ball inside the glove side leg with two hands.  Short shuffle crow hop technique with slight momentum headed towards target. 
Run: 7.31 runner in the 60.  
  
 

Creed Muirhead, Shawnee (OK), 2024  
Positional Profile: C/2B  
Body: 5-6, 140-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future. 
Hit: LHH. Neutral stance with a wide base.  Hands get set just below shoulder height with a relaxed back elbow and a vertical bat angle.  Quick two tap stride with strong lower half drive.  Good rhythm throughout the swing.   Slight uphill bat path with good barrel control.  Works the hands to the inside part of the ball well and has a line drive approach.  Utilizes the whole field well.  Plays the ball deep into the zone and gets good extension. 
Power: 82.11 max exit velocity, averaged 76.11 mph. 269’ max distance.  
Arm: RH. C - 74 mph.   Over the top arm slot with a clean and quick arm action. 
Defense: 1.95-2.08 pop times. Strong receiving skills with one knee in the dirt and an advanced feel for pitch framing.  Feet and hips work quickly out of the crouch on throws to second with good rhythm and clean exchanges out of the glove.  Throws had good carry and accuracy to the bag.  Strong blocking technique with good hip flexibility.  One of the top defensive catchers in the class. 
Run: 7.79 runner in the 60.  
 
 

Charlie Tolle, Bethany (OK), 2025  
Positional Profile: C/RHP  
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds. Lean and athletic build with room for added strength and size in the future. 
Hit: RHH. Neutral stance with an athletic posture.  Hands get set at shoulder height with a high back elbow and vertical bat angle.  Quick weight shift into the back leg with a linear push into a firm front leg.   Slight uphill bat path with a strong top hand finish.  Slight raise up in the posture at contact point.  Pull side approach with developing balance.   Shows good overall bat speed. 
Power: 86.22 max exit velocity, averaged 72.55 mph. 306’ max distance.  
Arm: RH. C - 71 mph.   High 3/4 arm slot with a whippy arm action. 
Defense: 2.05-2.22 pop times. Receives the ball with good balance and posture.  Quick feet and shoulder turn on throws down to second with good direction and momentum headed to the bag.  Throws had good carry and accuracy to the bag.  Strong blocking technique with good posture.  Shows a good recovery and quick feet. 
Run: 7.45 runner in the 60.  
 
 

Brandon Green, Edmond North (OK), 2025  
Positional Profile: C/RHP  
Body: 5-11, 155-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future. 
Hit: RHH. Neutral stance with a narrow base and upright posture.  Hands get set below shoulder height with a relaxed back elbow and bouncing rhythm.  Sinks to the weight into the back leg with a simple stride with foot getting down early. Linear drive with the lower half into a firm front leg.   Hands work around the body with a level bat path.  Hands rotationally around the ball with a pull side approach.  Strong top hand finish with developing balance.   
Power: 83.89 max exit velocity, averaged 75.56 mph. 219’ max distance.  
Arm: RH. C - 70 mph.   Over the top arm slot with a long arm action. 
Defense: 2.16-2.26 pop times. Receives the ball with high posture and a stiff glove.  Comes out of the crouch early with feet working slightly open.  Throws have developing accuracy and carry to the bag.  Feet and hips work quickly on blocks with an upright posture. 
Run: 7.92 runner in the 60.  
 
 

Vaughan McIntyre, Edmond Santa Fe (OK), 2025  
Positional Profile: C/OF  
Body: 5-7, 140-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future. 
Hit: LHH. Slightly open stance with an upright posture.  Hands get set below shoulder height with a vertical bat angle.  Hands get set quickly into position.  Linear weight shift into the lower half with a knee knock stride.   Slight uphill bat path with strong lean back at contact.  Hands work to the inside part of the ball and prefers to let the ball travel deeply into the zone.  Head stays behind the ball at contact and utilizes the whole field well.   
Power: 82.91 max exit velocity, averaged 76.25 mph. 278’ max distance.  
Arm: RH. C - 70 mph. INF - 73 mph.  High 3/4 arm slot with a whippy arm action. 
Defense: 2.00-2.15 pop times. Behind the plate receives the ball with one knee in the dirt and does a good job of working the glove underneath the ball.  High posture on throws to second with feet working directly towards second base and good momentum headed towards the target.  Strong blocking technique with good posture and recovery.  In the infield attacks the ball with active feet and good routes around the ball.  Fields the ball out in front of the body with good glove action and soft hands.  Clean exchanges out of the glove. 
Run: 7.98 runner in the 60.  
 
 

Mason Pickering, Hilldale (OK), 2025  
Positional Profile: C/1B  
Body: 6-0, 175-pounds. Projectable and physical build with room for added strength in the future. 
Hit: LHH. Slightly open stance with a narrow base and upright posture.  Hands get set at shoulder height with a high back elbow and slightly wrapped barrel.  Sinks weight directly over the back leg and utilizes a leg kick stride that stays with a narrow base. Hands work hard to the inside part of the ball.  Sees the ball deep into the zone and utilizes the whole field well.  Ball jumps off barrel at extension.  Slight lean back in posture at contact with a level bat path. 
Power: 86.66 max exit velocity, averaged 80.96 mph. 260’ max distance.  
Arm: RH. C - 70 mph. INF - 75 mph. OF - 72 mph. High 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action. 
Defense: 2.20-2.27 pop times. Behind the plate receives the ball with one knee in the dirt and good hip flexibility.  Works quickly out of the crouch with a pre turned body.  Clean exchanges out of the glove.  Strong blocking technique with good posture and recovery.  In the outfield attacks the ball with smooth rhythm and controlled footwork.  Shuffle style crow hop with slight momentum headed towards target.  In the infield attacks the ball with shorter footwork and good lateral range.  Shows a feel for routes around the ball.  
Run: 7.81 runner in the 60.  
 
 

Emerson Lane, Victory Christian (OK), 2024  
Positional Profile: RHP/C  
Body: 5-8, 160-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future. 
Hit: RHH. Starts with a neutral stance and upright posture.  Hands get set early and quietly into position at shoulder height with a high back elbow.  Quick weight stack onto the back leg with a leg lift stride.  Quick rotational turn in the backside into a firm front leg. Level bat path and a line drive approach.  Utilizes the middle of the field well.  Does a good job of matching plane with the pitch through extension. 
Power: 86.89 max exit velocity, averaged 73.72 mph. 304’ max distance.  
Arm: RH. C - 69 mph.   3/4 arm slot with a short arm action. 
Defense: 2.06-2.12 pop times. Receives the ball with weight pre shifted onto the left knee with developing glove action Comes out of the crouch early and quickly on throws to second with feet and shoulders working well in unison.  Works straight down on blocks with good posture. 
Run: 7.89 runner in the 60.
