PBR OK Power 25: Week Three
Mon March 27, 2023
Scott Hood
OK/MO/KS/ARK Assistant Scouting Director
As we get deeper into the season there are teams that are starting to separate themselves against their competition as district games are fully underway. This week sees some big movement on the Power 25 as some teams stay hot in their winning ways as well as some newcomers to the rankings after big weeks. The Power 25 is comprised of multiple factors such as overall record, strength of record, strength of schedule, as well as our own inputs from scouting and gathering information on teams. All records listed are from the OSSAA website.
The Top 3 remains untouched with Bixby and Stillwater continuing to pile up wins against some solid competition and Sand Springs completing a 4-1 week. Breaking into the Top 10 for the first time are the Tigers from Broken Arrow as they continue to swing hot bats putting runs up in bunches and having one of the stronger records in 6A. We will get more clarity at the top of the Power 25 in the coming days after some big district matchups between Sand Springs and Broken Arrow as well as Stillwater and Union meeting each other. After a tough spring break, Owasso righted the ship last week with a 4-1 week moving up a couple spots in the Power 25 and Oktaha sees their rise in the rankings after another unblemished week and showing one of the more dynamic lineups in the state regardless of class.
This week we have three newcomers making their debut to the Power 25 starting with the Chieftains from Sapulpa making their debut up at number 19 on the list. Coach Irvine's squad had an impressive week going 5-0 and taking down two Power 25 6A opponents along the way. Noble checks into the rankings at number 24 after going 4-0 and taking down some big opponents. Finally rounding out the Power 25 rankings are the Chicks from Chickasha as they continue to rack up the wins with the only blemish on the record being a 1-0 loss against number 6 Tuttle.
