Prep Baseball Report is excited for the return of Player of the Year Awards, presented by Big League Chew, after the 2020 season and the early parts of 2021 was cut short across the country, players had to find and explore other options to get out on the field and play the game they love. It was not ideal for many players to cross the border and there was only a small number who went south and played. That said, there were some incredible performances and Prep Baseball Report is excited to announce one player who emerged ahead of the competition at all levels in the country. This player has been selected not only for their outstanding statistical numbers, but also for their overall effect on they’ve had for Baseball in Canada.

Ziegler went south early in the year and suited up with TNXL Academy in Florida. The right-hander was dominant from start to finis, unleashing fastballs that were registered in the 93-97 mph range and reports of 98 came in as well. In 31 innings for TNXL, Ziegler punched out 51 hitters while only giving up 13 hits with 16 base on balls and pitching to a 2.00 ERA. Recently he has suited up for the Ohio Warhawks as well and continued to the same tune, pitching in the 93-97 range and punching tickets in a handful of starts for the Warhawks.

Ziegler’s all-around performance, as well as the impact he has had on the Canadian baseball community has earned him the 2021 Prep Baseball Report Canadian Player of the Year honors.

Ziegler has been selected by the staff of Prep Baseball Report of Canada. The team of PBR area scouts who covered the high school baseball season throughout the spring selected gave tremendous updates on Ziegler and were at many of his outings in the sunshine state. The Prep Baseball Report staff has been diligently scouting and covering games at diamonds across the country this spring to bring parents, athletes and fans the most comprehensive coverage of amateur baseball across the United States. The dedication and coverage allow Prep Baseball Report a credible way to identify the top athletes each year who best represent both Canada and the United States.
