2018 Sinclair Scout Day - Recap

Top Performers

Jakob Brustoski LHP / 1B / Green, OH / 2017

Report: Physical left-handed pitcher with legitimate arm strength. Working exclusively out of the stretch at a quick tempo and near max effort. Shows good direction and overall consistency in the delivery, needs to find more consistency at release point. Although command wasn’t great on this day, the fastball was electric at 91-94 MPH generating a lot of swing and misses. Slider potential to be a wipe out pitch, at 82-83 MPH, the pitch has short late bite through the zone. Changeup is a legitimate offering for the left-hander, at 85-87 MPH, the pitch has late dive in the zone. Should receive legit draft consideration.

Alex Theis LHP / OF / New Riegel, OH / 2017

Report: Southpaw works exclusively from the stretch. Efficient delivery that doesn’t require much effort. Loose, clean arm. Fastball comes out easy, showing late life through the zone at 87-89 mph. Spun one of the better breakers of the day. The pitch drops of the table late in the zone at 72-75 mph. Also has a playable changeup in the repertoire. Starter type that is a D1 arm talent.

Jake Greer RHP / OF / Hicksville, OH / 2018

Report: Right-hander in the bump with a slower paced tempo to a delivery that requires little effort. Loose/fast arm through a high-3/4 slot. Ball jumps out of his hand with fastball sitting 88-90 mph. Spins a quality breaking ball that looks to be an out pitch right now at 73-75 mph. Completing his three pitch mix is a changeup that has a fastball look out of the hand at 80-81 mph. Starter type that you could see being even higher velocity wise. Going to be a good one.
