IL/WI Underclass Games: Outfielder Analysis

By Illinois & Wisconsin Staffs

On July 21, the PBR Wisconsin and PBR Illinois staffs teamed up to host this annual invite-only showcase for both states’ up-and-coming sophomores: Underclass Games. This year, the top 2023s from the two states met at Ozinga Field in Crestwood, Ill., to participate in a showcase workout and simulated gameplay.

We previously published highlights from the day inside our Takeaways post. On Monday, we began to break down this event, position by position, starting with the event’s catchers – and we’re onto the outfielders today.

At the top of this list is one of the Midwest’s, and arguably the country’s, most gifted players – presently the top-ranked sophomore in Illinois who is not yet committed: Adison Worthman (Bloomington, 2023). Ranked inside the top-160 nationally, Worthman swings with premium bat speed while generating top-scale exit velo marks that creates a special power profile. He’s also recorded the fastest 60-yard dash time at this illustrious showcase, further enhancing an already terrific toolset. Read up on his complete scouting report below.

From Wisconsin, you may already be familiar with J.T. Kelenic (Catholic Memorial, 2023), as his older brother begins to make his mark with the Mariners in pro ball, but J.T.’s been quite comfortable making a name for himself this summer. He’s yet to fill out an upside 6-foot-4 frame, still creating an enticing batted-ball profile. Like Worthman, Kelenic is also of high interest as an uncommitted prospect from the Midwest.

This is a special collection of outfielders, and we have their full reports below, composed of mostly uncommitted talents, and the best of both states.
