By: Diego Solares
Area Scout, Illinois & Missouri

From July 27th to July 30th, the Prep Baseball Report staff will host the PBR Future Games at the state-of-the-art LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, Georgia.

This one-of-a-kind event will feature the best uncommitted Class of 2024 prospects and select 2025 prospects from our 40-plus state coverage area and Canada. In years past, more than 330 college coaches from all over the country were in attendance.

Each state's team will play three games. On Wednesday, the first day of the event, all position players will be put through a showcase workout in which they will run 60s, take batting practice and be evaluated defensively at their primary position. For more information on the event, click HERE.

MEET THE TEAM

Eddie Ahearn C / Parkway South, MO / 2024

From 6/21/22: "...physical 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame with a clean right-handed stroke and arm strength. Popped in the 1.93-to-2.05 range during his workout at the Top Prospect St. Louis Games and peaked at 80 mph from the crouch. Has also been into the mid-80s with his fastball, too."

Mason Blasche 3B / Hoover, AL / 2024

From 6/16/22: "...uncommitted. 6-foot-2, 170-pounds, some length to frame, plenty of strength to still potentially be added in the future, intriguing two-way prospect in the rising junior class. Started off his day with an impressive round of BP using all parts of the field and showing tons of power potential. Starts in a slightly open stance with balance, works uphill through the hitting zone with a strong barrel giving way to some pop in the right side of the box. Also hopped on the mound and made it look easy running the fastball up to 86 mph with solid secondary offerings."

Jack Brodeur RHP / CE Jordan, NC / 2025

From 7/15/22: "...physical presence with broad shoulders and a strong lower half, standing 6-foot-5, 195 pounds.  Athleticism is present.  Earned an invite to the PBR Future Games with his continued development and will pitch for Team Select during the Future Games.  Fastball ranged 85-87 with good ride and heavy, late, boring run into right handed hitters.  Advanced change-up with excellent hand speed and good feel, working from a similar tunnel as the fastball with fade as it entered the hitting zone.  Fastball spin at 2152rpm.  Change-up spin at 1784rpm.  Breaking ball flashed late 10/4 action.  Lacked the feel he has for the change-up but it does give him a solid 3 pitch mix."

Hudson Byrd RHP / Blue Valley, KS / 2024

From 7/20/22: "...one of the most projectable young arms in the Midwest, Byrd is an athletic 6-foot-5, 190-pound right-hander that moves exceptionally well on the mound. He possesses a four-pitch mix that’s highlighted by an upper-80s fastball that has been reported up to 90 and a slider in the low 80s with advanced spin."

Victor Christal RHP / Bishop Miege , KS / 2024

From 7/21/22: "...Christal, at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, showed loud stuff at the Preseason All-State in February, uncorking high-80s fastballs from a live arm, touching 90.4 mph on his best bullet. He also showed a swing-and-miss breaking ball at a 2,771 RPM average in the high-60s."

Coy Clements C / Mountain View, ID / 2024

From 6/5/22: "...Clements is a 6-foot-1, 175 pound backstop with present athleticism that he used well throughout the catch and throw process during the Catcher Evaluations on Day 1 of the event where he threw a PBR Verified 1.92 Pop Time with the help of his 75 mph Catcher Velocity, each of which ranked him in the #2 spot in each category. At the plate, he starts in a slightly open, wide based set up with a knee to knee load that works to get down on time into an efficiency, repeatable swing, staying in his legs well throughout. He showcase a mostly line drive approach with some pull side power peaking throughout with much more expected to come as he continues to fill out his lean frame that has the broadness in his shoulders to add significant size. "

Boomer Collins SS / Capital, ID / 2025

From 6/5/22: "...the rangy middle infielder players with the highly sought after bounce and confidence that you would want to hold down the premium position. He pairs advanced defensive actions with an rhythmic, left handed stroke that found the barrel not only throughout his batting practice session, but during the Game Play portion of the event as well as he registered a hit early, then barreled up a ball to the right-centerfield gap that got tracked down. His compact, 5-foot-9/135 pound frame only adds to the projectability of what is to come as he continues to add size and strength that we expect to amplify each part of his game in the coming years."

Nick Gibler RHP / Blue Springs , MO / 2024

/var/www/html/login/modules/Playerss/shortcodes.json not found

Cole Lanford LHP / Leesville Rd, NC / 2024

From 5/12/22: "...long, lanky frame.  Repeats the delivery with some deception and effort as the arm works through an over-the-top slot.  Slight cross-fire in his line.  Fastball ranged 81-84 and touched 85 in the first inning. Showed good feel for his breaking ball, recording swing and misses in the zone and for chase. Had 10 k's and 2 BB in 5 innings."

Eli Lovich OF / Blue Valley West, KS / 2024

Lanky, high-waisted 6-foot-4, 170-pound frame that oozes physical projection. Plenty of family pedigree on the diamond; related to two Missouri commits. Looked the part of a top-of-the-order staple for the Royals Scout Team in June.

Jack Millman RHP / De Soto, KS / 2024

From 7/21/22: "...will represent Team Select at the PBR Future Games later next week. Ranked inside the top-10 prospects for the Kansas’ 2024 class, Millma is a strong, sturdy 6-foot-1, 195-pound athlete with an upper-80s fastball and high-arching low-70s curveball"

/var/www/html/login/modules/Playerss/shortcodes.json not found

Jack Nobe OF / St Francis Borgia, MO / 2024

From 7/21/22: "...Nobe oozes physical upside and projection attached to a 6-foot-2, 165-pound frame. Nobe covers ground with his long strides and repeats quality contact from the left side that’ll likely grow into more power as he fills out his frame. He’s also been up to 90 mph from the outfield, further solidifying one of the more intriguing profiles in the class."

/var/www/html/login/modules/Playerss/shortcodes.json not found

Blake O'Brien OF / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2024

From '24 Rankings Update: "...one of the most polished young players in the country on both sides of the ball, O'Brien is a true two-way prospect who knows how to play the game. O'Brian shined at this year's future games where he was up to 86 on the mound with an advanced 3 pitch mix while also collecting hits in the box. O'Brien ran a 6.94 60 and was 90 from the outfield as well."

/var/www/html/login/modules/Playerss/shortcodes.json not found

Deacon Pomeroy C / Shawnee Heights, KS / 2025

From 7/6/22: "...at 6-foot-4, 210-pounds, there’s not many 2025 graduates built like Pomeroy in the Midwest. He’s the top-ranked prospect in Kansas for his class and it’s evident as to why when you watch him play. Pomeroy’s right-handed barrel produced several loud lazers off his bat that sounded different from his peers, displaying well advanced raw power for someone his age. Pomeroy’s physicality translates behind the plate, as he threw several accurate bullets with carry from behind the plate in between innings during the tournament. Pomeroy is set to attend the PBR Future Games as an underclassman with Team Select later this month."

Chase Porter OF / Kearney, MO / 2025

From 6/20/22: "...Porter, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound, switch-hitting center fielder, utilized the NPI as a platform to announce himself loudly on a national stage. The 6.6-runner routinely set the table for Building Champions Navy from the leadoff position in helping lead the team to a quarterfinal run, and it was his loud barrel that originally forced me to leave a separate game to uncover who had hit it. He went 5-for-12 with three extra-base hits, and looked like a future top of the order threat who will have a chance to stick in center field given the speed. However, it was the bat, and an innate ability to slow the game down at the plate combined with a quiet confidence that stood out in each look. Simple with a direct path, the ball jumped off the barrel with surprisingly high velocities given his size, and there is reason to believe that there may be more power on the way. Overall, Porter was one of the big winners from the event, and is clearly a player that college coaches will be locked in on for the rest of the summer and beyond."

Adam Shipley RHP / Francis Howell, MO / 2024

Made six starts for Francis Howell this past weekend, logging 29 2/3 innings with a 2.83 ERA this spring.

/var/www/html/login/modules/Playerss/shortcodes.json not found

Wesley Silas RHP / GSIC , GA / 2025

From 6/25/22: "...6-foot-1, 174-pound right-handed pitcher, proportional build, broad shoulders, athletic with room for more strength. Advanced arm strength for age. Works from a ¾ slot with a high front side, quick arm speed. Fastball sat 85-87, has been up to 90 in the past, sinking action. Curveball, 72-74, up to 2400 rpm, manipulates shape between 11/5 and sweeping."

Colton Sims 3B / Shawnee Mission East, KS / 2025

From 7/21/22: "...will also represent Kansas at the Future Games, and the nationally-ranked incoming sophomore figures to be one of the top prospects on Team Select. At 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, Sims’ repeats a clean right-handed stroke that’s set to grow into more power as he fills out his frame."

/var/www/html/login/modules/Playerss/shortcodes.json not found

Tank Sims C / West Plains, MO / 2024

From 6/19/22: "...the left-handed hitting Sims boasts a 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame and also recorded a 96 mph peak exit velocity in BP. He threw the day’s hardest bullet from the crouch at 80 mph and also the quickest throw at 1.97 seconds to the bag."

Cameron Sullivan RHP / Mt Vernon, IN / 2024

/var/www/html/login/modules/Playerss/shortcodes.json not found

Cooper Thompson 1B / Twin Falls , ID / 2025

From 6/5/22: "...the 2025 has an obvious present about him with a “country strong” build where he already stands at a stout 6-foot-3, 190 pounds. The primary first baseman also showed his ability to handle the left side of the infield as well with athletic action that would allow him to hold down the third base position. After his standout performance during the Pro-Style Workout on Day 1 of the PBR Idaho State Games, he racked up a pair of hits during the Game Play portion on Day 2 where he showed his ability to drive the ball to all fields. Thompson was a local product in the Twin Falls area, but the incoming sophomore should be making national name for him this Summer."

/var/www/html/login/modules/Playerss/shortcodes.json not found

Grady Westphal RHP / Blue Valley, KS / 2025

From 7/6/22: "...a top prospect in the Kansas’ 2025 class, and top-150 nationally, Westphal threw twice this past weekend for Building Champions Navy and looked the part in both looks. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound incoming sophomore pumped his hardest bullet at 88 mph, pitching and holding mid-80s velocity. Westphal spun a 74-77 mph breaking ball with downer spin and two-plane break, ripping it off from a similar slot and intent to his fastball. Athletic with plenty of physical projection left to come, Westphal looks every bit the part of a premier pitching prospect in the Midwest’s 2025 class."

/var/www/html/login/modules/Playerss/shortcodes.json not found

Bret Yarger OF / Rolla , MO / 2024

From 7/21/22: "...is a 6.75 runner in the 60 with a strong lower half and juice at the plate, peaking at 95.6 mph off the barrel at an event this winter."
