Prep Baseball Report’s commitment to providing the most credible resource in the amateur baseball space has always had deep roots with the spring high school season. The efforts of the many boots-on-the-ground scouts within PBR has always provided for the most comprehensive coverage. That coverage has allowed us to maintain our hyper-local commitment on the state level where each Scouting Director is deeply entrenched in the nuances of the local scene. All of that scouting provides ample information for state “team rankings”, of which, there are numerous heated debates within, and also allows us to unite the progress of each singular player with the devotion that they have to their team.

Given the heaps of information and scouting coverage at the state level, and with a growing out-of-state schedule that many schools are now competing in, PBR now ushers in a new era of spring coverage with both regional and national rankings.

The national and regional lists will consist of the 25 best teams across the country and regions, regardless of class rank, and will be updated throughout the season. With more than 100 boots-on-the-ground staff, this list has been poured over and debated with knowledge of teams and players from scouting tournaments, events, and of course the performances and production of the previous spring.

While much of the initial lists are weighted on previous performances, prospects, and projections, updates will be inherently tied to the production on the field. Simply put: wins and championships matter. A human element to the list will still provide important information on the nuances and intricacies that the season bestows. Whether it is a close loss in a rivalry game, a five-game in three days gauntlet, or a bout of sickness that depletes a lineup, you can count on PBR to critically examine the playing field at all times.

Disclaimer: Regional and national rankings will feature sanctioned and state title-seeking schools. A separate National Academy Rankings will provide coverage of those particular schools that qualify.
