Scout Notes: Elite South 2025 Tournament

Brandon Hall
Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director

PBR was on hand on Saturday and Sunday, September 17 and 18, for the Elite South 2025 tournament.  Hosted at the Knothole Foundation's Tuckaseegee Dream Fields in Charlotte, NC, the field consisted of six teams with players from VA, NC, and SC.  Each team played a double header on Saturday to setup seeding for Sunday's bracket play where a champion was named.

The tournament field featured Legacy Baseball (SC), CBC 2025 (NC/SC), CBC 2026 (NC/SC), Team Virginia (VA), Queen City Corndogs (NC), and the Lake Norman Bulldogs (NC).  The event was setup for graduates from the 2025 and 2026 classes.  After day 1, Legacy Baseball and CBC 2026 secured the top two seeds and a bye into the semi-finals on Sunday.  As the day played out CBC 2025 won three games on Sunday and clipped Legacy Baseball in the finals to secure the weekend's championship.

Today we take a look at some of the players that stoodout for each team in the tournament.  All notes and stats were compiled by PBR Scouts in attendance.

Scout Notes

CBC 2025

Caden Glauber, RHP, Catawba Ridge HS, 2026
Physical presence with broad shoulders and strength in the lower half.  Stands 6-foot-1, 165 pounds.  Rhythm and direction should continue to clean as he grows into his frame.  Still a maturing frame.  Fastball improved as he got into his rhythm in the 3rd and 4th innings.  Ranged 79-84, peaking at 2350rpm.  Slider at 69-71, 2150rpm.  Late sweeping action with excellent arm speed.  Potential high ceiling as he continues to mature.

JB Walters, SS, Fort Mill HS, 2025
Lean athlete with good rhythm at SS.  Made several plays defensively with ease throughout the weekend.  Hit in the leadoff spot, setting the table for CBC.  RHH uses a simple setup and load, working level with a gap to gap approach.  Solid bat speed.  Shows good barrel awareness.  Positioned to make big jumps in the box as he adds strength to the frame.  Was up to 79 on the bump.

Jace Parenteau, OF, Cuthbertson HS, 2025
Left handed hitter.  Good zone discipline at the plate.  Good barrel feel with average bat speed.   Played with quickness in the outfield.  Aggressive first steps with solid range and the ability to get to a direct route quickly.

Brent Laughter, C/OF, Fort Mill HS, 2025
Lean frame at 6-foot, 160 pounds.  Right handed hitter is balanced and quiet in his setup.   Some rhythm present through the load as he gets to his launch position.  Load can be rushed at times. Good batspeed.  Aggressive. Strong hands.  Excellent feel for the barrel.  Looked to drive baseballs through the middle of the field. Works for extension with natural lift through contact.  Played a corner OF position.  Behind the dish, he is raw in his setup, but an athletic receiver.  Good arm strength.  Pop times should improve with a quicker transition and release.  Pop times ranged 2.26-2.42 between innings.

Andrew Craddock, RHP, Fort Mill HS, 2025
Athletic frame.  Straight line build.  LIsted at 5-foot-10.  Clean, repeatable delivery.  Long arm swing to a high-¾ slot.  Above average arm speed.  Good direction.  Strike thrower.  Fastball ranged 80-84, 2080-2330rpm.  Arm side run when working to the arm side.  Slider with side to side action at 73-76, 2150-2300rpm. Flashed one change-up at 81.  Lacked swing and miss or chase but created a ton of soft contact as he cruised through his outing.

Evan Myers, LHP, Lincoln Charter, 2025
Lean frame that is still maturing.  5-foot-10, 140 pounds.  Uptempo delivery.  Long arm swing and better than average arm speed through an over-the-top slot.  Fastball at 76-79.  Change-up could be a weapon creating a lot of issues for hitters.  Sits 69-71 with good arm speed and late fade away from RHH.

Legacy Baseball 15U

Ben Chuttey, RHP, Nation Ford HS, 2025
Lean athlete with length in his limbs at 6-foot, 150 pounds.  Works level, landing across his line as he works to an over-the-top slot.  Average to above arm speed.  Fastball at 76-79, 1800-2000rpm.  10/4 tilt on the breaking ball at 69-71.  Strike thrower.  High level competitor.  Room to his ceiling as he continues to mature into his frame.

Cole Gutmann, LHP, Indian Land HS, 2025
Average frame at 5-foot-8, 135 pounds.  Long arm action, reaching out of the glove back toward second base, working to an over-the-top slot.  Better than average arm speed.  Swings the front leg to an on-line and square landing.  Around the zone consistently.  Created a bunch of ground ball opportunities for his teammates.  Fastball at 75-79, 1970-2050rpm.  Breaking ball at 65-66.  Slows the hand a bit on the breaking ball creating a sweeping action.

CBC 2026

Jacob Addison, RHP, East Meck HS, 2026
Physical with a strong lower half.  Fastball up to 75, running to the arm side and cutting to the glove side.  Attacked hitters with the fastball creating swing and miss and soft contact.  Breaking ball peaked at 64.  Intriguing follow as he continues to grow.

Team Virginia 2025

Brice Abbott, 3B, Blacksburg HS, 2025
Physical right handed hitter.  Stands 6-foot-1, 205 pounds.  Works from extension with pull side power present and only going to improve.  Natural lift to the swing.  Some length with strength playing over bat speed.  Average to above bat speed.  Made routine plays at 3B showing solid arm strength and accuracy.  Somewhat nimble for his size, showing some quickness with his first step.

Kam McKee, SS, William Byrd HS, 2025
Lean athlete.  Rangy.  Raw in the box and at SS but with athleticism and quickness present.  Left handed hitter.  Glides through his load and launch getting out on the front side.  Lagged the bat head somewhat, working with above average bat speed, staying flat through contact.  Used the entire field.  Looks like he gets out of the box well and moves.  Run times should improve as he continues to get stronger.  Defensively he has active feet and good hands.  The body is not always in the right spot, but he made plays and was athletic with his transition and exchange.

Trace Monroe, LHP, William Byrd HS, 2025
Average frame.  Loose hips.  Moved well with solid rhythm and direction on the bump.  Long, loose arm swing to a ¾ slot.  Whippy arm with above average arm speed.  Lands on-line with an open toe strike.  Fastball at 76-79, 1900rpm.  Breaking ball is still maturing at 67-69.  Flashed a change-up that should develop into a pitch that will give the fastball more length.  Change sat 72-74 with solid arm speed.  Strike thrower, moved off the mound well and controlled the run game on his own.

Lake Norman Bulldogs

Ty Davis, INF, East Lincoln HS, 2025
Strength is present.  RHH worked to be aggressive.  Looked for extension.  Average bat speed and barrel feel.  Has confidence getting to the plate.  On the mound worked up to 82.

Queen City Corndogs

Jahdier Rodriguez, C, Charlotte Catholic, 2025
Average build, still adding strength.  Stands 5-foot-9, 140 pounds.  High energy catcher.  Works to be impactful with his pitching staff. Willing blocker with side to side quickness.  Showed some feel for keeping the ball near and recovering to control the run game.  Good feet and quick exchanges.  Arm strength improvement will make a big difference in his pop times.  Pop times ranged 2.47 - 2.58.  Offensively, needs strength. Solid foundation with a flat stroke through the zone and a solid plan in each at-bat.

Nick Russo, RHP, Weddington HS, 2025
Large frame with broad shoulders, standing 6-foot-2, 180 pounds.  Average rhythm in the delivery. Works level and in-line, landing with a square foot strike.  Short arm action working to load the scapular.  High-¾ release.  Average arm speed.  Fastball ranged 78-81.  Around the zone, lacking feel for any one spot.  Change-up at 73-75 with solid arm speed.
