Super 60 Spotlight: Victor Quinn

On Sunday, Feb. 7, Prep Baseball Report will host the 19th edition of its prestigious, flagship event: the Super 60 Pro Showcase. Since the event’s inception in 2003, more than 300 players have been selected in the MLB Draft, including 22 first-round picks and 25 second-rounders.

We started our our march toward the Super 60 earlier this month, by highlighting the prospects set to join us, shining a light on their impressive player profiles that they've groomed through their high school years and beyond.

Scouting Report

Athletic, quick-armed righty who struggled to find the strike zone. Scattered his 91-94 mph fastball through his 26-pitch appearance with a large variance in his release point. At 6-foot-1, 200 pounds Quinn is a converted outfielder trying to harness his heater which spun to the plate on average at 2078 rpm, peaking at 2292. Showed limited feel for his secondary offerings. Threw two changeups at 77 and 81 mph, spinning in the 1600 range, while he also flashed a trio of below average, low spin breakers at 75-76 mph which averaged 1,875 rpm.

Quinn is an athletic and physical 6-foot-1, 190-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher from Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.14 second 60 and 4.64 home-to-first. At the plate, 88 mph exit velocity, athletic stance, pre-pitch rhythm, slightly open stride, leg lift, quick hands, level bat path, showed control of the barrel, remains balanced throughout, plus batting practice round, gap-to-gap approach with hard contact. Defensively, athletic actions in the outfield, clean transfers, long loose arm action, strong arm with carry to throws, positional velo of 88 mph (highest recorded at the event), mostly accurate throws. On the mound, works primarily from the stretch, athletic delivery, controlled leg lift, accelerates down the mound with an aggressive lower half, easy arm action, high three-quarter release, ball jumps from hand. Fastball sits 84-87 mph, tops at 88 mph, thrown around the zone, heavy, occasional cut, curveball is 71-74 mph, 11-to-5 shape, late downward action at times.
