NC: Taylor Matches Zedalis' Homer in 9th as South Meck Walks-Off Cox Mill

South Meck hosted Cox Mill on a windy Saturday in south Charlotte.  The Sabres hung around and capitalized late in the game to eventually get to extra innings where Brody Taylor launched a walk-off HR for the win.

Cox Mill jumped out to a 3-0 heading into the bottom of the 5th innings.  The Chargers used a combination of small ball, timely hitting, and Sabre mistakes to jump in front.  In the bottom of the 5th, South Meck would take their first lead of the game, plating 4 runs.  The rally was led by a leadoff single from Brody Taylor, followed by a double by Cam Bagwell. 

Cox Mill answered with an unearned run in the 6th tying the game.  Consecutive singles from Jack McGowan and James Green set up the inning.  Sabre relief arm Sam Marinack almost wiggled out of the inning with consecutive strikeouts, but an infield error plated McGowan and extended the inning. 

Both teams went quietly in the 7th.  In the 8th, South Meck loaded the bases with no outs.  A fielder's choice cut down the winning run at home for the 1st out, followed by a pop up and another ground out to end the threat.

In the 9th, a one out walk to Connor Welker brought up the Chargers' Tyler Zedalis.  He quickly gave Cox Mill the lead again with a towering blast to left field.  

With the score at 6-4, South Meck would put runners on 1st and 3rd with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th.  A wild pitch would move the score to 6-5 and put the tying run on 2B.  A 2-0 pitch to Brody Taylor ended the game as the Sophomore Outfielder homered to dead center, giving South Meck the walk-off win.

South Mecklenburg goes to 5-3 on the season and will play a 2 game non-conference series with No. 1 Providence this week.  Cox Mill drops to 6-2 and visits AL Brown on Tuesday.
