30 players from the Old Line State, DC, and Delaware participated in this year's Top Prospect Games II at The United States Naval Academy. Players were put through a pro-style workout and played a game in front of our PBR Maryland staff and various college coaches from across the Mid-Atlantic region. Below are evaluations on the six middle infielders at the event.

MIDDLE Infielders

(Listed Alphabetically)

Hunter Chambers RHP / 3B / Dover (DE), MD / 2024

Body: 6’0”, 155 pounds. Athletic, leveraged profile with long levers throughout the build.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, controlled, and open stance with slight bend in the knees as the hands showed loosely at the shoulder. Utilized a controlled, short leg lift stride in order to initiate the bat head through a flat path with lift after impact. Stayed behind the ball well and let the hands work out in front of the plate, creating hard contact to the pull-side and ready juice when getting extended. Projects to hit anywhere from 2-5 in the order moving forward.
Power: 91 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Doubles power with extra-base hits to the LCF gap. Quality hitter that can find holes in the field.
Arm: RH. INF - 79 mph. Low ¾, quick release with slight arm-side run on the carry to the glove.
Defense: Gets to the right of the ball and operates downhill through the target on a quality-paced, balanced approach at the fielding window. Gobbles the ball up and transitions at the belt line allowing for repeatable, accurate throws across the diamond from any direction. Ranged well to the backhand side and could beat the ball to the spot while attacking on the run.
Run: 7.41 60-yard time.

Adam Gott RHP / 2B / Calvert , MD / 2022

Body: 5’10”, 174 pounds. Strong, sturdy frame with even proportions overall.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance with balance over the plate as the hands begin high by the ear. Utilized an early leg lift stride in order to initiate a stretched load beyond the shoulder into the hitting zone through a repeatable, flat path. Hit into a stiff front side with accurate weight shift, transferring rotational energy into impact on time with consistency. Mostly pull side approach with ability to stay on the pitch over the plate up the middle.
Power: 86 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Doubles power to pull with obvious connection behind the ball in the approach.
Arm: RH. INF - 75 mph. Quick, high ¾ slot with ability to manipulate on the run.
Defense: Rangy, athletic defender with good pace during defensive evaluations; beat the ball to the spot with natural instincts and bursty first step in either direction, actions suggest a stay in the middle of the infield long term with low posture at the fielding window.
Run: 7.78 60-yard time.

Logan Hastings SS / 2B / Huntingtown, MD / 2024

Body: 5’8”, 135 pounds. Lean, athletic frame with room to hold additional weight as he matures.
Hit: RHH. Wide, slightly-bent stance with the hands starting upright at the shoulder. Utilized a short lift and replace stride with tight turns over the right side in order to initiate the bat head through a flat path. Continuously lifted the ball at impact with loft to the pull-side while staying behind the ball in the approach. Sprayed hard contact over the middle of the field while generating natural backspin with consistent extension at the front of the plate.
Power: 80 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Developing doubles power if on time on the inner half.
Arm: RH. INF - 75 mph. Glove-tap into a quick, high ¾ slot with a moderate arm swing, can drop down on the run.
Defense: Adequate footwork, works around the ball to the right and chops the feet to get downhill at the fielding window; slight forward momentum as he funnels inward, holding directional energy towards the target through the catch/throw phase. Projects to stay in the middle with feel for pace and a quick trigger.
Run: 7.50 60-yard time.

Sam Morrison SS / C / Loyola Blakefield, MD / 2024

Body: 5’8’’, 135 pounds. Athletic, lean profile with room to hold strength.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, slightly open stance with a minor bend in the lower half. Utilized a short leg lift in order to initiate the bat head through a flat path into the hitting zone. Mostly upright posture and high finish on the way through yielding a middle of the field approach and line drive contact during batting practice. Slight weight shift, but operated under control throughout his round.
Power: 80 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Developing doubles power to pull with mostly singles at the moment, solid approach at the plate and stays within himself.
Arm: RH. C - 65 mph. INF - 67 mph. Short, whippy high ¾ slot from the crouch that creates arm side run. INF: Quick, low intent, ¾ V-slot.
Defense: Pop times ranged 2.25 - 2.38. Average footwork which replaced well directionally, featuring a repeatable effort during defensive evaluations. Soft glove hand attributes and adequate blocking skills, working around pitches in the dirt off both sides of the plate. INF: Bursty defender in either direction with raw actions at the fielding window. Showcased a soft and trusted glove hand that played low to the ground with consistency, transitioning accurately to the throwing ear.
Run: 7.79 60-yard time.

Cooper Welch RHP / 2B / Archbishop Spalding, MD / 2025

Body: 5’7”, 130 pounds. Lanky, lean frame with lots of projection/room to add strength.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, bent stance as the barrel started with rhythm straight up/down, then out towards CF and back. Utilized a stretched load position outside the shoulder coupled with a lift and replace stride to initiate the swing through a flat path into the hitting zone. Handsy approach that found leverage at times on the inner half. Stayed somewhat upright in the posture and worked to find flush contact out over the plate. Middle of the field/pull side approach during BP.
Power: 77 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Singles power at the moment with comfortability to pull when getting extended.
Arm: RH. INF - 64 mph. Short, low ¾ slot with arm side run across the diamond.
Defense: Slight range to the glove hand side with low posture and early glove hand presentation. Average footwork and got good reads off the bat, sticking the foot in the ground and going. Could drop the arm down further when coming to get the ball on the run. Second base projection on the right side of the infield.
Run: 8.10 60-yard time.

Jaxson Wood 1B / OF / Georgetown Prep, MD / 2024

Body: 5’11”, 180 pounds. Strong, durable frame with a thick build from the ground up.
Hit: RHH. Open, bent stance at a narrow setup as the hands show controlled rhythm pre-swing. Utilized a barrel-tip coupled with a leg hang stride in order to initiate the barrel through a flat, slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Stacks up well with early connection, operating into a leveraged attack at the front of the plate with lag/whip late. Generated plenty of pull-side pop on pitches middle-in, with ability to drive the ball consistently in a middle of the order role.
Power: 91 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Recorded tons of hard contact through the LCF gap for natural doubles power; created loft with backspin to LF for occasional jump/home run juice.
Arm: RH. INF - 75 mph. ¾ to low ¾ slot and flashed ability to manipulate based on play.
Defense: Rounded from the right side downhill through the baseball, early glove presentation out in front with soft actions, funneled inward to the belt loop allowing for average pace across the diamond. Projects a stay on the right side of the infield at second base while chopping the feet through the fielding window.
Run: 7.47 60-yard time.
