The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

It’s been a slow build up for the Dragons over the past few seasons with a roster infused with youth at the varsity level. Last season, they took another step and fell one game short of advancing to the Region semifinals to finish 17-18. This season they’ll look to break through and lean on their developed pitching depth from the previous seasons. ‘23 RHP Andrew Warshaw returns as the ace after having his season cut short last year due to injury. ‘23 LHP/OF Nik Kidd transferred in and expects to play a key role on the mound and in the middle of the order. ‘24 LHP/OF Harrison Shelton and ‘24 LHP/1B Isaiah Slaven look to be more consistent this Spring and will factor heavily as two-way producers. ‘25 C Sam Raley will play a significant role behind the plate and have a chance to turn in all-district season as sophomore. ‘24 1B Garrett Lee will be a key bat and provide some thump in the lineup. Some other upperclassmen to watch will be: ‘23 OF Jackson Stiltner, ‘24 3B Jayce Mack, ‘24 UTL Blake Trublood, ‘24 RHP Sam Duggins, an ‘24 INF Braden Hensley. This group will fill out the roster and provide veteran presence for a group that has taken their growing pains over the years. ‘25 RHP Dallas Beets, ‘25 RHP Chase Jaslove, ‘26 Cam Britton, and ‘26 C Jake Rittenberry will try to figure into the mix and establish the next wave of talent coming through Clinton. The Dragons will look to turn in their first winning season since 2015 and should battle with Halls and Anderson County for the two spots in Region.
