The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

The Eagles made a trip to the state tournament in 2021 and last year they had a chance to make another run last Spring. They finished runner up in district six then dropped a tight matchup to Lenoir City in the region semifinals to finish 16-14. They’ll return a good portion of their lineup and a fairly deep junior class. ‘23 2B/RHP Carter Giles has been a consistent offensive contributor and will throw significant innings on the mound. ‘23 OF Mason Howell is another veteran bat, who they’ll lean on to produce and anchor the outfield. ‘24 OF/RHP Ben Timblin (Wofford) is a big time two-way prospect as he’ll be a key bat in the middle of the order and the ace on the mound. ‘24 OF/LHP Ty Harper will serve as the number two and provide a lefty bat in the lineup. ‘24 SS Jake Edmonson will pair up the middle with Giles and had a strong year offensively last Spring. ‘24 UTL/RHP Barrett Anderson is another lefty bat and provides depth on the mound. ‘24 OF Blake Wolfard can provide some thump in the lineup as well. ‘25 3B/RHP Cash Keene will man the hot corner and be counted on to throw innings as well. District six will be very competitive with Soddy Daisy and East Hamilton, but Signal could be right in the mix at the top and will look to push into the postseason again.
