The 2023 high school baseball season is underway with practice having started and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Austin at the State Tournament, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and eventually releasing our preseason Top 30 teams in the state.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week and updating the Top 30 teams in the state.
*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook
Last years Centennial team had a rough go in district, but the returners are upper classmen now, and they have experience in the right spots. Coach Summerlin and the boys are looking to flip the script in 2023.
On the mound, the Titans return Sr. RHP Harris Woertendyke and Jr. RHP Tyler Hughes. Other arms to keep an eye out for are Sr's Carter Krone and Ben Donley. Also keep an eye out on Freshman Hayden O. He threw for Team Texas in Jr. Future Games last summer and he should offer a mid 80's fastball and quality breaking ball.
Offensively, the Titans will be led by All District 1st Basemen Hunter Lapolt, developing SS Jace Patton, and Hughes. Lapolt gives them a bat that can change the game with one swing of the bat, and Patton looked much more physical when I saw him in mid Jan. at our Preseason ID. He poised for a big year offensively and to be a lockdown defender at short. Some other players to watch are Nick Echainz and FR. C Miles Woertendyke. Hayden O will also find his way in the lineup, as he can swing it also.
Centennial has some pieces to be dangerous this year and be a tough out for district 10-5A. If some of the upper classmen make the next jump and the freshman are ahead of schedule. Coach Summerlin and his staff may surprise some people.
