The 2023 high school baseball season is underway with practice having started and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Austin at the State Tournament, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and eventually releasing our preseason Top 30 teams in the state.

Team Outlook
Last year, Orangfield had a successful season that saw them go 28-4 overall with a 10-2 district record leading to a regional semifinalist finish. This year the Bobcats return some key upper classmen and look to make a even deeper run in '23.
On the mound there aren't many teams on the 3A level that have an Ace like Jason Bodin. The Texas A&M has a fastball that sit regularly in the low 90's with the secondary stuff to dominate. Bodin will be joined by Jr. RHP Brycen Tait to start a formidable district duo.
Offensively, Orangefield will be led by last years District Offensive MVP, Kyle Michael. The LHH 1st baseman will be joined by Bodin, Jr. Caleb Fregia and Sr. Rusten Traxler to anchor the lineup. Keep an eye out on Freshmen Matthew Johnson and Kyler Green who could make some noise sometime this year.
Orangefield has a talented team that is built for the postseason. After a deep run last year, Orangefield is looking to take it a couple steps farther this year.
