Brandon Gowins
Assistant Scouting Director

TEXAS - On November 13th, we hosted the Houston Fall Prospect ID and Unsigned Senior Showcase at the University of Houston featuring uncommitted prospects from the 2022-2026 Classes. The players ran 60's, went through a defensive workout, took BP on the field and threw bullpens. Below, we take a look some of our staff's first impressions from the day.

HOUSTON FALL ID STAT SHEET

HOUSTON UNSIGNED SENIOR STAT SHEET

STAT LEADERBOARDS

Maddox Medrano SS / 2B / Lake Travis, TX / 2024

Had a really solid day, was 84 across the infield and had soft hands. Showed nice rhythm in field and in the batter's box, where he sprayed line drives all over the field. Medrano plays with some bounce and has a good feel for the game.

Jake Krause OF / RHP / Southlake Carroll, TX / 2022

Krause had an impressive day running a 6.75 60 and was 86 from the outfield. At the plate showed some strength and drove the ball with authority. Krause has some physicality to go with his athleticism and will be an interesting follow this spring.

Logan Witt RHP / OF / Stephen F Austin, TX / 2024

Witt has everything you are looking for in a high end arm.  The sophomore has a great frame that projects for more down the road.  He had a fastball that topped out at 86 and flashed a breaking ball and change up as well. As the strength comes and he gets lower half more involved expect big jumps from Witt

J.J. Idrogo OF / RHP / Whitehouse, TX / 2025

Idrogo was one of the youngest players at the event, but more than held his own. He ran a 6.71 60 and looked comfortable in the OF.  At the plate, he has above avg. bat speed and had a gap to gap approach.  As the strength continues to mature, there is some power potential for Idrogo.  Being only a freshman, there is plenty to be excited about

Cooper Scott OF / 1B / Lake Travis, TX / 2023

Scott had a solid day positing a 7.08 60 and showing good athleticism for his size.  But where Scott really stood out was at the plate, producing the highest exit velocities that topped out at 105, and one of his moonshots traveled 405. Scott's power potential is intriguing and will be fun to see it carry over in games this spring.

Anthony Avalos SS / 2B / Pearland, TX / 2023

Avalos  was a standout on the day at the HOU Fall ID. Started hot early with a 6.80 60 then showed a strong arm at 85 mph from the INF and 91 mph from the OF. lots to like during his round of BP with a short stroke and an approach to hit line drives all over the yard.

Tristan Zarella SS / RHP / Clear Falls, TX / 2022

Zarella showed well, running a 6.75 60 and was 84 across the diamond. He had good actions in the infield showing good footwork and soft hands. A LHH hitter who had an impressive round of batting practice as well.

Lane Sparks OF / LHP / Brenham, TX / 2023

Sparks had a great day posting a 6.62 60 and was 90 from the OF. Had an impressive BP showing good power to the gaps with a balanced swing with some natural loft to his swing. His athleticism shows up all over the field and is an exciting player to watch.

Chase Bourgeois 2B / SS / Clear Falls , TX / 2022

Had a solid day posting a 6.91 60 and was 87 across the infield. Showed good feel and rhythm in the field and in the batters box. Had a solid round of batting practice using the entire field.

Sean Bazmore SS / 3B / Crosby, TX / 2023

Had a solid day posting a 7.1 60, was 91 from the outfield and 86 across the infield. Showed good actions at shortstop. Had a solid bp session with some present bad speed, as the strength comes, so will the power
