Texas Player Rankings - Class of 2025

Assistant Scouting Director

TEXAS - The 2025 National Rankings were released  last week, and no surprise, the state of Texas was well represented with 26 of the 250 players residing in the Lone Star State. This class is well rounded and has a good mix of impact bats and high end arms.  As we roll out the initial State Rankings, there is a baseline for a deep class that will only continue to get deeper as their High School Careers play out.

C/RHP Luke Billings takes the top spot in our initial Rankings. The Prosper HS standout had a great summer and capped it off with a very impressive Futures Game Performance. He more than held his own playing up against kids 2 to 3 years older than him.  Billings has true two way potential at the next level.

The next two spots are occupied by Shortstops. Matthew Boughton, Texas A&M Commit, has a natural feel to the game that is way beyond his years. It feels like every time PBR Texas sees him play, he makes a play in the field that makes it hard to believe he is just a freshman. He has a very projectable frame, and looks to be the next great DFW Shortstop. Coming in at 3 is Kayson Cunningham out of San Antonio. When they say "hitters hit" they are talking about Cunningham.  The left handed hitting shortstop has the innate ability for finding the barrel at his age. Cunningham, like Boughton, has a great feel for the game and plays at a level that makes it easy to forget he just entered High School.

Coming in at 4, LHP Tye Briscoe (Arkansas Commit), is the first true pitcher on our list.  The Southpaw out of Abilene burst onto the scene last summer pitching up and not only held his own, but at times dominated. He has the ability to beat you with his fastball in the zone, and shows the potential for two above average off-speed pitches.

Rounding out the top 5 is Catcher, Omar Serna (LSU Commit).  The physical freshman showed some serious in-game power this Summer and Fall and has a chance to impact the game every time he swings the bat. Behind the plate, Serna is very refined for his age, showing soft hands as a receiver and has an above average arm as well.
