Prep Baseball Report

Washington 2026 Rankings Release

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

Today we take our first look at rankings for the Washington 2026 graduating class. The initial Top 20 is filled with a diverse collection of talent as this group of players begin occupying the halls of HS for the very first time. With nearly the entire Top 20 uncommitted, we expect these players to garner significant attention from college coaches throughout the next year.

This 2026 list will be updated and expanded throughout the year as players continue to showcase their ability once baseball season ramps back up.

Since its inception in 2005, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive year-round coverage in every state we are in. The mission of the Prep Baseball Report is to scout and promote amateur baseball - high school, junior college and college - and, ultimately, help athletes achieve theirs of playing baseball at the next level.

Rankings are based on evaluations by scouting director Dan Jurik as well as additional PBR scouts across the country who have seen prospects from the state at various events.

With a majority of the prospects on the list uncommitted, the goal is for this information to help assist  college coaches as they look to finalize their recruiting classes and add additional pieces to their roster.

power arms at the top

'26 RHP Keegan Matson (Eastlake) leads the way as the current #1 player in the class. The Oregon State commit is an overpowering athlete at 6'2 and about 180 lbs. With present strength and room for even more growth, he excels on the mound with his combination of size and athleticism, running his FB into the upper 80s. With more velocity certainly on the way, it's an immensely high ceiling on the mound. Also, given his athleticism, he's a more than capable athlete and will be sure to impact games with his bat as well. After Matson, '26 Chris Moore (Kentlake) and '26 Gavin Clark (Jackson) offer exciting arm talent with an advanced feel for pitchability. Moore attacks the zone with an easy delivery, quick arm action and a full arsenal of pitches. Clark is a long, loose athlete with a whippy arm that generates impressive intent late in his delivery.

2 bats that really impressed in the last year and cemented themselves as Top 10 prospects are '26 Dylan Mamiya (Kennewick) and '26 Taron Carlson (Kamiakin). Mamiya may play the game faster than anyone in this class. His bat to ball skills from the left side make him a consistent offensive threat and his aggressive attitude on the bases puts constant pressure on the defense. He's also a more than capable LHP with an effective sinking FB and feel for spin. Carlson runs a smooth operation both at the plate and on defense. He's a mature offensive player with an all fields approach and has easy, fluid actions when patrolling the INF. His athleticism also translates to the bump where he can command multiple pitches in the zone and understands how to disrupt timing.

Stay tuned for additional updates on this class as we continue to expand and update throughout the year
