Kenosha Preseason ID: Preview

PBR Wisconsin Staff

This Sunday, Jan. 30 the PBR Wisconsin team is hosting the Kenosha Preseason ID at the Fielder's Choice Training Facility in Kenosha, Wis. This is an open event for all high school classes (2022-25), and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

For a closer look at the showcase details and the technologies we'll have on-site to assist our in-person evaluation for all in attendance, click here. For a complete look at those registered to attend this event, view the most up-to-date version of the roster by clicking here.

EVENT HISTORY

We've been hosting this event for the past five years, and it's consistently provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, like the PBR Future Games. Among the players in attendance at this event in 2021, there are already eight commitments.

Last year gave us our first look at RHP Jake Catalano (Brookfield East, 2023). Catalano caught our staff's eyes last year and eventually received an invitation to our premier event,  the 2021 PBR Future Games. We also got an updated look at C Joseph Lagina (Freedom Project Academy, 2022), who is currently a top-10 catcher in the state.

2022 ROSTER

This year's roster is already shaping up nicely, just like in years past.

Built at a lanky 6-foot-2, 165-pounds, RHP Jack Olson (Antioch, 2024) oozes projectibility. We last saw Olson at our South Milwaukee Preseason I.D., last year where he reached a 81mph high from the mound and also featured two above average offspeed offerings. A high-spinning breaking ball and a solid fading changeup.

We are excited to get a more in-depth look at RHP Matthew Schulz (Westosha Central, 2023). Schulz has pitched in front of our staff many times throughout 2021 but this will be his first event he has attended. Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 165-pounds, Schulz has some major upside. His long levers coupled with a unique delivery, seem to keep hitters off-balance. We have seen him pump his fastball in the mid-80s range and throw a breaking ball that earns consistent swings-and-misses.

Matthew Schulz (8/8/21)

C/RHP Nathan Urban (Indian Trail, 2025) is another young prospect we are excited to see. The last time we saw him was in April of 2021, at our Future Prospects showcase. At that event Urban’s bat is something that caught our staff’s eye, producing hard hit balls for his age. Behind the plate Urban shows athleticism and fundamental catch-and-throw mechanics.

Perusing the event roster, we’re set to meet a majority of players who’ve not yet attended a PBR showcase, and we’re eager to add more names to our follow lists.

EVENT CHECK-IN PROCESS

Because of the high number of prospects set to attend Sunday’s event, it is imperative that you read our adjusted showcase itinerary below, which will allow our staff to swiftly and efficiently educate and evaluate the players set to attend.

Additionally, in an effort to continue and develop contactless check-in strategies, upon arrival, players will scan a QR Code with their smartphone camera that will lead them to a Google Form. On that Form, players will enter their name (matching the spelling on their PBR profile) and hit submit. Upon submission, players will be prompted to click a link that will direct them to their jersey color and number, located next to their registered name.

MORE EVENT DETAILS

Click here to learn more about our tech partners that have enhanced our players showcase experience. Partners like TrackMan, Vizual Edge, and Blast Motion have helped both our in-event evaluation process, as well the compilation of our post-event scouting reports – and they're also a tool for our players to learn more about their measured and collected data, that can be applied to improve upon their game.

Finally, masks are encouraged during non-baseball activity. We will facilitate a contact-less check-in. Staff will wear masks throughout the event. Wear baseball clothes; assigned and numbered PBR jerseys will be provided.
