Madison Preseason I.D.: Outfield Analysis

By Steve Nielsen
Illinois & Wisconsin Scouting Supervisor

In today’s closer look at last month’s Madison Preseason I.D. we’ll break down the day’s outfielders. It’s a tooled up group that featured junior Jack Krumbach, a Xavier commit from Madison Memorial.

Krumbach produced one of the day’s best BP rounds from the left side and flashed his athleticism with a event-best 60 time. His speed helps him glide in the outfield and he pairs it with an arm that was regularly producing strong throws home.

Nathan Stevens (Waunakee, 2019) was mentioned in yesterday’s catchers post but his progression as an outfielder warrants some more recognition here, too. He logged the day’s hardest throw from the outfield and the same athleticism he flashed behind the plate played at the position.

Sophomore Alex Ryan (Lakeside Lutheran) had one of the event’s most impressive performances, regardless of class. He has top-of-the-order potential because of his stand-out speed and the gap-to-gap type of contact he put on display. He’s reasserted himself as a high follow moving forward.

Below, we have detailed reports on every one of the outfielders who made it out to the Madison-area event last month. Keep an eye out for an analysis of the event’s infielders tomorrow.
